Was there an older version of this that had a hex on the fitting instead of a knurled surface for screwing it on? I want to replace the one I have with the same type but I'm not sure what brand it is. It looks very much like this one but with a hex nut instead of knurled. Based on the reviews I think this is what I want. A powerful mist spray.
The original design was marketed under a name like “Water Saver” or some such. Glacier Bay and Delta make copies. I assume the patent protection ran out or they were satisfied with licensing the design. The Delta is the more robust of the two current ones.
Yes that is the same one I had previously. It was made by another company. But this delta one is the same quality for sure. My wife is so happy I’m not complaining about the shower head anymore.

Look at a similar shower head from the Whedon company, made in the USA. It has a hex nut as you describe.
I had a hex one but it was not a shut off design. I have not seen this with a hex-nut but if you use Teflon tape, this one seems to hold pretty well. I think this is available in most hardware stores.

Don't know the flow rate or if California likes it. I am happy with it. Seems to help in areas of rural water districts where water pressure needs a little help.
does this head have off/on or just 2 spray adjustments. looking for off/on system.
Hello rusty, Thank you for your question regarding the Delta Fundamentals 2-Setting Metal Shower Head. This model has two settings; Full body spray, and Pause. The Pause feature on the shower head reduces the water to a trickle, allowing you to conserve water while doing tasks such as lathering up or shaving your legs, while maintaining your temperature settings, without allowing water pressure to build up in your pipes. It's more of an on/off but the off still has a little trickle that comes down it's not much though.
It has an on/off slide bar that can also be adjusted midway to save even more water.

New York has adopted voluntary EPA WaterSense guidelines. For shower heads the maximum flow rate specified in those guidelines is 2.0 GPM. As you can see in this listing this shower head is rated at 2.5 GPM. Having used one of these for a number of years I find it difficult to believe that this shower head is flowing more water than others I have, but there you have it.

Don't think so, but can be easily cleaned using Limeaway if that becomes a problem
