There are many good fertilizers in the market today. Many times plants take 1-2 years to establish itself in the root system before above ground growth can be seen. Mid March get some fertilizer for green shrubs/trees and follow the directions on the bag. Cleyeras do prefer slightly acidic soil and a lot of direct sunlight. These also may be factors to consider when adding nutrients to your soil.
The LeAnn Cleyera will produce berries in late-summer to Fall that are maroon-dark purple in color. Berries are small and inconspicuous, they will hardy be noticeable on the shrub.
If you have been watering your plants regularly, you might want to see if the soil around your plants is staying soggy. These plants will experience root rot if planted in soil that has poor drainage. If this is the case adjust your watering to let the plants soil dry out between waterings, or if the problem is very bad consider re-planting using some well draining soil to back fill the hole, and allow ~1/2 inch of the root ball to be above the soil level.
