Why does it "spit" oil out on the ground and out the back? I did not overfill the oil reserve.

Thanks for reaching out, Ted. Leaking oil is not normal or expected. We recommend having your generator inspected by a Generac authorized service dealer as soon as possible: https://www.generac.com/home-standby-generators/dealer-locator/

Hello, I have a Frigidaire refrigerator model RFG238AARS, but I have plugged into the Generator, it runs for about 8 minutes, then pops the GFCI. I’ve tried both GFCI’s. It does the same thing after about 8–10 minutes.

      Have same issue

      By|Jan 14, 2025

Thanks for reaching out about this! Some highly sensitive appliances, like smart refrigerators, require a low THD (total harmonic distortion) to operate properly. Not all portable generators produce a low enough THD to successfully power these appliances with their GFCI protected outlets. To resolve this issue, try disabling the refrigerator's ice maker if possible, and try powering it again. If your fridge continues to cause the generator's GFCI breaker to trip, but it must be powered, consider purchasing an adapter (like an L14-30P to 5-20R) so that the appliance can be connected to the larger (non GFCI) 30-amp receptacle on the portable generator. If these steps do not resolve the issue, feel free to call us at 888-436-3722.

          Good Generator
Bought for California wind power shut offs. Worked like a dream and gave plenty of power to run my refrigerator, deep freezer, house heater and miscellaneous lights and small portable electronics. It is pretty loud but what generator isn’t. Would highly recommend so far.

            Crank case ventilation Tube froze
I used it for power outage at -10 F it ran for one tank, then it shut off spewing oil out of the plug where the auto low oil shutoff switch is, the cause is the vent tube going to the air intake was frozen solid. replace plug removed ice, kept happening.

I ordered the DEWALT 6,500-WATT GASOLINE POWERED ELECTRIC START PORTABLE GENERATOR for my husband. It arrived via LTL (semi truck). We did get a few days notice so we could arrange a way to get it off the truck. It's 215 lbs so we needed some help. My husband was a little disappointed as it did not come with enough oil to start it up right away. Once started, he did say it runs ghost compared to others he has heard. It was easy to start.

DeWalt a name that is associated with quality products. No matter if it's tools or a generator. DeWalt is a name that is synonymous in the industry for quality. This generator is made by Generac for Dewalt which also is a name that is synonymous in the power generator industry for reliable generators. The bigger the watts on the generator usage, the longer run time at 50% power before refueling. In other words if you run the generator at half load (in this particular case 2 divided into 6500 watts = 3250 watts) you will decrease the fuel consumption by about half. The generator will not have to run at maximum speed to produce a continuous 6500 watts. That is why if you plan on purchasing a generator, always purchase a bigger generator in terms of wattage than you will need. This will decrease your fuel consumption by the generator and you'll be able to run for an extended period of time on the same amount of fuel. Living in South Louisiana along the Gulf Coast, we experience hurricanes often. This generator will allow me the peace of mind knowing that the size of this DeWalt generator will allow me to know that this generator will meet my most critical needs after my power has been knocked out and knowing that the DeWalt name is behind this generator. This generator will allow me to keep my refrigerator and freezer (packed with seafood) continually working and keeping my family comfortable in the hot and humid Louisiana weather. One thing to remember, when using a generator, plug-in one appliance at a time to keep the generator from spiking. All appliances have a capacitor which kicks in when first starting the appliance. This draws quite a bit of wattage from the generator. The capacitor is used to to start the unit and once the unit is up and running the capacitor will disengage and the unit will be running normal. Once this is accomplished the next appliance can be plugged into the generator outlet. Repeat the procedure for the next appliance. This procedure will keep the generator from spiking and shutting down. This DeWalt generator is packed with many features that makes it practical and versitly for a portable generator. DeWalt uses two words to define their array of products "GUARANTEED TOUGH" and that is the truth!

I am comparing this new Dewalt generator to my old Generac 7000EXL that I purchased in July 2002. This new generator has so many new features - both safety and user convenience. From a safety perspective, the CO Protect auto cutoff system is a great addition. The never flat tires and the hour meter which tracks hours of operation are great user friendly additions. This generator is rated at 6500 watts but is capable of generating an additional 40% starting capacity. This is a great feature since most electric devices require considerably more wattage to start than to run. This particular unit does not come with an electric start - which would be nice - but it did start on the first pull. True to the Dewalt brand and color scheme, this is a good looking generator (see attached picture).

I am giving 1star, this generator by all accounts should have did very well but with only my fridge plugged in the outlet kept tripping and the GFCI kept tripping every 10 minutes or sometimes less. I retuned with no problem and bought a different brand.

                Response from GeneracJan 30, 2025
Hi Denise, thank you for leaving a review. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with your new generator. In rare cases, sensitive electronics (like smart refrigerators or smart TVs) can cause the GFCI circuit breaker on portable generators to trip. Generally speaking, sensitive appliances require a low THD (total harmonic distortion) to operate properly. Not all portable generators produce low enough THD to successfully, or continuously, power these appliances. To resolve this issue, we first recommend inspecting extension cords for signs of damage, such as cuts, frays, or exposed wires. Additionally, verify that the extension cord being used is rated for the correct amperage required by the generator's outlets. Amperage for each outlet can be found in the product's spec sheet. If possible, you can also disable the refrigerator's ice maker and try powering it again. If it's been determined that the sensitive appliance is indeed causing the breaker to trip, but it must be powered, consider purchasing an adapter (like an L14-30P to 5-20R) so that the appliance can be connected to the larger (non GFCI) receptacle on the portable generator. To choose the correct adapter, confirm the specifications of the generator's outlets by consulting the owner's manual or the product's spec sheet. Generac
