The answer from ElectroluxExpert (Ashton) is incorrect. The product instructions contain a prominent health warning that the product contains lead. The Prop 65 warning is displayed on the product packaging as well as the installation instructions.

Your answer about the maximum size of pipe is not helpful. We know the supply tubing is 1/4". The question is about the pipe which is tapped, the one the saddle goes around. 1/2" copper max or 3/4" or ?

Is it required to purchase a new copper ice maker kit if I already have one on my old refrigerator?
My refrigerator came with a plastic tube instead of a copper pipe. That worked for a while, until rodents chewed through the tube to get to an easy source of water. I highly recommend getting the kit with the copper pipe. The saddle valve that comes with this kit was also much better quality than the one shipped with my refrigerator.
Will the self tapping saddle valve work on PVC water line?
