A:  It should be. Remove the screw and pull the handle. The valve stem should be symmetrical and allow flipping.

A:  I did not require one, installed out of the box with teflon tape only.

A:  No. If it's an FIP (Female Pipe Thread), it only needs either thread sealing tape or a thread sealant such as real-tuff teflon paste thread sealant. There is no washer installed.

A:  No. I just put like you did Teflon tape 4 to 5 times around well tide and then install the valve well tide too. Check for leaks and if any tide a little more that must stop the leak.

                    by|Feb 25, 2021

A:  NO, these do not use a rubber for the inlet side. there must be a defect because just a little tightening and Teflon tape should do the trick.

                    by|Feb 16, 2021

A:  It shouldn't need a washer. Is it possible you have damaged threads on the pipe you are installing the valve on? You could try Teflon paste instead and see if that seals it better. Best of luck!

                    by|Feb 17, 2021

A:  You use tefon tape that is designed for plumbling, and wrap it around the threads several times.

A:  It should have had a rubber washer on the inlet side when you purchased it. I would think it would leak without it.

A:  No, it is a standard iron pipe fitting. You may have damaged threads on the pipe. Try using more tape, or thread compound and securely tighten the fitting. It can be tricky getting it tightened correctly and have the outlet end up in the correct position to connect to the fixture. Good luck, sometimes it can be a challenge!

A:  Hi ck - Thank you for your question. No extra washers are needed for installation. Wrapping plumbers or teflon tape around the pipe thread and tighten down the nut on the valve for snug fit. If this does not resolve the issue, please contact one of our Customer Service Representatives toll-free at 877-272-7755 for further assistance. Thank you for the feedback.

A:  Hello Seaswirl20 - Thank you for your question. Yes, this is a quarter-turn single outlet angle shut off valve. The body is brass, the stem barrel is TPA. We do offer a ball stop in our KT series valves, that can be special ordered inside your local Home Depot at the Pro Service Desk or in the Rough Plumbing Department. This is our part number KTR17X C1 - 1/2" FIP x 3/8" OD Comp, also a 1/4 turn angle. This has the brass ball and stem. If you have any questions on our products or need assistance in selection, please contact one of our Customer Support Representatives at 877-272-7755.

A:  This is not a ball stop, but uses a rotating plastic sleeve. I think the part number for a ball stop is BKTR17XC

A:  All 1/4 turn valves operate on the ball valve concept, but the original 'ball valve' was an in-line, straight through valve, not a 90 degree like these. Regardless, you will want a 1/4 turn valve rather than the old multi-turn valves which are good, but much more trouble prone.

A:  I wouldn't call it a ball valve due to the right angle flow and assembly. I would call it a 1/4 turn angle stop. Higher pressure drop than a ball valve, and not serviceable like a 1 piece/ 2 piece / or 3 piece ball valve. I didn't try to disassemble it to see the actuator/plug/port.
