Q:I have a cracked slate tile in my outdoor patio, will this work to fill the crack and look ok ? Thanks for your time and effort here.

        Answer This Question

A:  Make sure you secure the slate if cracked you don’t tell color or style. So in an effort to answer  in all likely it won’t match perfect. You also don’t mention the size. So I will go by a 10 x 10 mix the product as directed adding if it is a small crack a bit at a time building it up to level and removing excess color  since I don’t have a color it will take some effort to mix color to get a near match. Before you start color it would be helpful to go on line and get color information  this will tell you the base color or colors to get to your match. Yes tile is a bit difficult to match color  like paint they are made in batches. So take your time and you will be surprised to see how well it can come

A:  The Mix2Match TileFix Kit is a great solution for tile repair and for laminates with tile patterns. When working with wood grained laminate floors, we suggest to use the Mix2Match FloorFix which is specialized for laminate and hard wood repairs.

                Q:Is this product an epoxy?

                Answer This Question

A:  Our TileFix is not an epoxy however it does dry hard. TileFix does a great job repairing granite however there has to be enough surface for the putty to stick to, so if the dings are too small the putty may not grab and set into the damage.

A:  Hello HD customer, Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. This putty wouldn't be considered an epoxy and will not act as an adhesive. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. - From the HD member Scott

                    Answer This Question

A:  it may or may not. It will colorize the cut but may not necessarily fill it, it would depend on how much "fill" the cut line would take. But worth a try. It does blend well.

A:  Hello, I used this on stone tile on the floor and it worked great. I can only say that it blends very well with colors and fills cracks where you cannot see them. But not sure about quartz.

A:  The Mix2Match TileFix is a great solution to repair chips and cracks where the filler can be applied. However it will not disguise fine cracks where there is no space for the filler to adhere to.

Q:The waterborne lacquer used, is this like the water-based lacquer used on wood? If not, could we get a bigger bottle of this?

                          Answer This Question

A:  The lacquer seals the repair making the repair durable and less susceptible to traffic, maintenance, and moisture, while giving it a nice finish. Layers of lacquer can help better match different sheen levels in a floor. The lacquer does not come in larger bottles.

A:  The Mix2Match TileFix will work on travertine tile, but depending on the gloss of your natural stone you may need to touch-up the lacquer with a coat of something with a higher or lower gloss to better match your flooring repair.
