Q:I noticed that the internal dimensions are 1 5/8 but the wood poles that are sold are 1 5/16. Yet the white metal caps are listed as 1 5/16. Were these supposed to be 1 5/16?

Answer This Question
A: The internal dimensions of 1 5/8" are correct for this item. These sockets work for the 1 1/2" wood closet rods that Home Depot sells, but the fit is sloppy. There is a different item for 1 5/16" closet rods.

A: No, this 1 5/8" (large) socket is made for the old time oak closet rods that are no longer being made (except specialty lumber stores). Home depot only carries poles that are 1 5/16" (small) or 1 3/8" (medium). When in doubt of which size you need go with the 1 3/8" socket.
