A:  This smoke alarm has a permanent battery which is guaranteed for 10 years and cannot be changed, you just buy a new alarm. Mike

A:  Hello. You don't. The sealed lithium battery is built into the alarm and lasts the 10 year life of the alarm.

      A:  This has a 10 year battery which means you do not change the battery. Then the battery dies in 10 years, you throw the detector away and buy a new one.

          A:  Hello. This alarm has a red LED that flashes once every 10 minutes. If you press the test button, the red LED will flash every minute for ten minutes. After 10 minutes, it will flash once every 10 minutes. That is standard operations to let you know the alarm is working properly.

            A:  Hello. It should be as easy as installing anything else on the ceiling or wall with screws and anchors. Please see the owner's manual and your local fire codes to for locations to install and locations to avoid. Please check with your local authority requiring smoke alarms to make sure this alarm meets your local code for your house or apartment or application.

              A:  Yes. Same as most smoke detectors. You install a bracket into your ceiling with a couple of plastic anchors and screws and then insert the unit into the bracket. Done. You need a drill to make the hole for the anchor and a screwdriver to insert the screws. That's it.

                    A:  Hello. What activates the battery is when you put the alarm onto the bracket for the first time, the bracket is supposed to hit an internal switch which turns on the battery. Sometimes you have to put the alarm onto the bracket firmly to get it to activate the battery. Try this. Put the alarm onto the bracket and when you do, push the alarm firmly against the bracket and turn firmly. See if that doesn’t activate the battery. If that doesn't resolve the issue, call us with the alarm and bracket in hand at 1-800-880-6788. Make sure you haven't deactivated the alarm on the back.

                      A:  No, as per the package description, it is powered by a lithium battery. We did have to replace a unit after six months because it started chirping. The new one has worked well.

                          Q:What is the sensitivity on this detector? The package can?t be opened to see it printed on the back of the unit and neither the specs nor instruction manuals state it. Actually, if this is the way to go for packaging it should be state in the package.

                          A:  Hello. Do you mean sensitivity to smoke or do you mean sensitivity to carbon monoxide? For carbon monoxide, The CO sensor meets the alarm response time as follows: At 70 PPM, the unit must alarm within 60-240 minutes. At 150 PPM, the unit must alarm within 10-50 minutes. At 400 PPM, the unit must alarm within 4-15 minutes. Smoke Sensitivity is on the back of the alarm. It should be 2.11 +/- %/ft. For more information, please call us at 1-800-880-6788

                            A:  Hello. The warranty is based on the date of receipt or invoice. Staple the receipt or invoice to your owner's manual or keep an online copy of the receipt. If you don't have the receipt, we can often use the date of manufacturing as a backup as an exception to the warranty.
