Q:Facing roof. No difference. We had 2 fans mounted on the north and south facing roofs which lowered the inside temp 20 degrees. Why the difference?

Q:Sorry if this is a duplicate question. I asked it about 15 minutes ago and haven't received an email to confirm. So I will ask it again. The ERV5 was installed in January but not used until late May. It was always louder then a larger fan it replaced, but now it is making a whining noise that makes it impossible to sleep with when the fan is on. I have also had to go up to the attic during the day to turn it off because of the whining noise. What can be done to correct this issue.
Thanks, jamesp717

Q:A good option for exhausting smoke/heat?
I'm building an outdoor kitchen with a closed gable roof. Rather than installing a bulking exhaust over the grill, I'm considering this unit to assist air flow that promotes the removal of any smoke that's trapped.

A: Living in NY, this attic fan has been exposed to snow. Considering the fan is not activated in cold temperatures, snow is not an issue. This fan has been a good choice for my needs and I would recommend this product.

Answer This Question
A: The thermostat needs adjusting. A little screwdriver is all you need. Mine is set to come on at 105 degrees and shut off at about 95. I had to adjust mine twice to get those settings. I believe that is about what the book calls for.

A: Try leaving at just under 100 for a bit to see if it kicks on. If not then the dial may not have been correctly zeroed at assembly. I usually keep the thermostat at around 110 so the fans not running all summer
