Q:Is it possible to stop the 360 and only spray in a linear direction? For instance, put this at the end of my small yard and have it water only toward the other end? The 360 would end up watering my neighbor's yard.

A:  Yes. You can set the tabs close together and it will water in a narrow sector but remember, it is a pie shaped sector rather than a rectangle. You can set the distance it goes and amount. It will water more on one end than the other in your case.

A:  Yes, just adjust dial to 0 degree, it will stay at straight pattern.

A:  yes, this model has little stops you can move to limit the orbit of the spray

        by|Jun 7, 2021

A:  There are two tabs that control the radius of spray. You can place them to over lap and you will get as close to a linear direction within a 3-4 inch width. Not sure what this would do to the internal mechanism as you are forcing it to stay for a long time within a very narrow width.

A:  Yes, you can set the two controllers together (Their the ones that make the "clicking" sound when rotated. Then put the difuser (One of the three plastic extrusions) to best difuse the water stream. Depending of the distance you want to cover select Large , Medium or Small stream of water.

A:  The lower dial sets base spray pattern and the upper dial interferes (splits) that pattern. "Long" is the farthest but w/o the upper dial it applies most of the water at the farthest distance.

A:  The settings on the head from smallest to largest are SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE, SHOWER , VERTICAL, & FLAT. In addition there are three little pegs over each hole to make the spray more diffuse (even or occluded). I think the farthest will be the vertical slot without an occluder over the hole. I am usually looking for the most EVEN spray over a given area . The LARGE setting without a occluder over the hole would go pretty far also but might concentrate the water in a ring. I don't have a measurement for how far they are going in feet. My yard is not that big.

A:  I believe you can do this, but it would probably be better to get a sprinkler that is designed to connect the way you want. An example is the OrbitVoyager II Pop-Up Gear Drive Sprinkler.

A:  Yes, but you can buy the sprinkler spikes individually, so that would be an expensive way to go.

A:  I've unscrewed the whole assembly off of the spike and disassembled the plastic unit.. The plastic assembly is screwed together and the head can be reattached, as long as none of the plastic parts inside the unit are broken. Since it's already broken, you have nothing to lose by taking it apart and checking it out. But I agree, it works great for awhile and then something will break.

A:  The literature states the housing is made of plastic. The spike base appears to be a "pot" metal alloy. I do not recall any warnings on the packaging such as the typical California label. To be absolutely certain, since I am a consumer, I would direct you to contact Orbit Customer Service directly and call their support line 1-800-488-6156. They're available Mondays through Fridays from 7Am to 6Pm mountain time.

A:  If you're worried about trace chemicals, it would make sense that this question be asked of the manufacturer, rather than getting a lot of useless opinions from us amateur gardeners. While you're at it, you'll also need to check with the manufacturer of your garden hose and also have your water tested, especially if it's well water.

A:  One of two things can cause it not to move to the tabs or to reverse. Low water pressure or a clogged inlet screen. There could also be a broken internal part. That happened to the first one I had. I don't use them often but the other 2 I have, lasted 2 seasons so far.

A:  Check the inlet screen where the hose attaches for blockage Check the pointers to see if the nozzle is set between them. Make sure the rotation is not blocked. Make sure flow is set high enough and there is no blockage or kinks in the hose.

Q:I'm trying to figure out the setting for maximum distance. The specs above say maximum throw 40 ft(80ft diameter) but the packaging says 65ft. I'm not getting more than 50-60, max., with great water pressure.

A:  The item description currently doesn't specify radius or diameter. It only mentions 5027 square feet of coverage. That translates to an 80 foot diameter, or a 40 foot radius (throw). Just eyeballing it, that is close to the performance I see in the two sprinklers I've owned for about a month. The display cards they came attached to say 65 foot diameter, but my experience indicates that's a bit conservative. I, too, have great water pressure, and I've found that a 35 foot throw is about the practical limit with these sprinklers. Keep in mind that the throw will be affected by the spray pattern selected, and the position of the distance control ring (diffuser).

A:  Try the different settings: Short, Medium, Large, etc. to see which setting will give u the greatest distance. Don’t forget to check the top 3 little settings that interfere with the flow to disperse the flow which will reduce the distance. Rotate that top piece to not have any of the 3 tines interfere with flow output.

                                by|Jul 14, 2020

A:  The setting you're asking about would be the one with no restrictions to water flow, just a straight stream of water. On the other hand, apparently you do not have the the same water pressure as test facilities. Other variables would be wind, water hose size, etc. If you're getting 60' of 65, I'd call it good, myself.

A:  50 ft. is about right unless your water pressure is super.

A:  I only get about 50'. I use the smallest diameter hole setting. It concentrates the water the most and sends it the farthest.
