Smooth self leveling paint with decent coverage. Had to use three coats in all, but happy with turnout. Would give 5 stars if pigment was better to give 2 coat application. Cures well over time, but had to keep a jar handy for touch ups on cabinets.
Nice paint for baseboards and cabinets

The Worst Paint I have ever used
After priming the new cabinets, I sprayed two coats of this product and waited two days to remove tape around the edges. It peeled the paint off. It will not harden and I damage it every time I set any books on the shelves. 8 weeks and it still peels.

Hi unhappypainter, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the peeling issues. This is not typical, and I understand your disappointment. I recommend sanding the loose coating off, cleaning and priming the bare surface, and touching up. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. I used 1,2,3 primer for my small kitchen cabinets x2 coats. Then used this paint with smooth roller no fuzz and it still taking me 2 good coats plus a trim brush to get where roller didnt.

        No coverage!!!
I was so excited to paint my bookshelf after carefully sanding and priming but 3 coats of paint later it looks horrible. Now the bookshelf is sitting waiting to be tackled all over again and I’m a bit frustrated as time is golden with 3 little kids.

Hi Dayna - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the coverage on your bookshelf is lacking after 3 coats! I recommend allowing your last coat to dry for at least 24 hours before determining if another coat is needed. If the coverage still looks uneven after the extra dry time, it's best to lightly sand the surface, wipe it down to remove the sanding dust, then applying a fresh coat at the recommended spread rate. For further assistance with this, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help. - Sara Behr

          Paint bubbles
I bought a gallon of this paint along with foam rollers at the suggestion of the home depot worker. The paint bubbles upon application and when the bubbles popped, it left tiny divets. It was also very streaky. After reading the reviews where Behr says to not use foam rollers, we bought another quart of the paint and the 1/4" nap rollers and it still streaked and produced bubbles. We tried 7 different time to get it to look smooth (sanding each time) For some reason we could not get this paint to work for us. It is extremely frustrating and I would not recommend it.

          Hi Mt3b,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Cabinet & Trim Enamel. I'm very sorry to hear about the bubbling and streaky issues experienced, even after applying the paint with the recommended nap rollers. That's very abnormal and not something we want our customers to go through.

Before using Behr Cabinet & Trim Enamel, we recommend priming all surfaces (painted/unpainted) for best results. This paint can be applied to many surface types, but it can have a hard time adhering to others such as formica. As you probably already know, the bubbles should be scraped/sanded before cleaning and touching up/recoating. Before doing this, I strongly recommend getting in touch with Behr's Customer Care Team. We'd love to learn more about your project and find the best way to help so you can achieve good results.

          Kindest regards,

          Doris Behr

I was so excited for this color to paint my rv kitchen, but what I received was brighter and glossy. I did not know satin was glossy. The color in the photo looked darker but I got a bright blue I did two-three coats and it never darkened. Sucks that I’m going to have to go waste more money and redo my kitchen again. I will never order from home depot online again.

            Hi Emily,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Cabinet & Trim Enamel. I'm sorry to hear about the color issue experienced, as it certainly isn't what we want our customers to go through. To prevent this issue from happening again, I strongly recommend testing out 8 oz. paint samples before finalizing your color selection.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and I encourage you to contact Behr directly for further assistance. We'd love to learn more about your project and find the best way to help.

This cabinet paint is a beautiful light gray shade that provides an amazing update for old worn out kitchen cabinets. Make sure you use the required primer first for a good adhesion. The image below shows the necessary primer, called acrylic-alkyd enamel undercoater. When done according the instructions, the paint will be smooth, dense, and almost shiny in its consistency. This is a perfect low-cost solution to update your kitchen without buying new cabinets or even doors.

Strong dark color that goes well as a contrast color to lighter cabinets. I suggest using this as the accent color on an island or on the base cabinets while leaving the wall cabinets a light grey, light blue, or white. After using the primer, the paint goes on thick but quickly dries to a smooth almost shiny appearance. The final result, when used with the primer, looks very high quality.

We selected this with the hope we could use it to paint a few pieces of furniture that are not high-end, but with a new paint job, should be able to go a few more decades. FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE COLOR: this is not the truest black - more of a charcoal black. PAINTING WITH IT: It is strongly recommended that Behr Alkyd Primer (43701) is used with this. To test this before using it on furniture, I painted the backside of some particle board to see how well it would cover. I also tested this by painting it with a brush and a roller - as well as with and without the primer. Spraying this with a paint sprayer will give you the smoothest finish. Upshot; you are going to see the texture with either the brush or the roller. Also, the PRIMER SHOWS THROUGH THE PAINT. This is after using two coats. I will say the paint laid out better without the suggested primer - but if you do use a primer, get it tinted first. CLEAN UP: This is actually where this shines - easiest clean up I have ever experienced with paint. Use dish soap and water and clean up was a breeze. CONCLUSION: If you are looking for a softer black color and plan on using a sprayer for application, this may work well for your project. Consider using a better quality primer and having it tinted darker.

The Behr premium satin enamel interior trim paint goes on exceptionally smooth. I am getting a new door and it states that it can be used on doors. I tried it on my old door so i determined that I can buy an unfinished door at a lower price. It went on smoothly and covered dirt and everything on the old door. I was impressed by how easily it is to apply and the shine was beautiful. Definitely a 5 star trim!

Excellent paint and undercoat combination! The primer went on smooth and covered my pre painted glossy cabinets perfectly. The primer spreads well and covered everything evenly and filled in some imperfections I couldn't originally see. The black satin enamel went on just as well and dried very quickly allowing me add a thin second coat after finishing the original coat. Now I just need to paint 8 more cabinets and I'll be done... I would definitely recommend behr products for any projects

The BEHR PREMIUM 1 gal. #57 Frost Satin Enamel Interior Cabinet and Trim Paint covers very well. I used it on some trim where the dogs had scratched real bad. I did get a gallon of BEHR primer because some spots were scratched to the bare wood. I used the paint which does a leveling type coverage and it looks wonderful. I plan to paint my kitchen cabinet trim next. It can be used on dry wall and other surfaces with proper under applications.

This is a good quality paint that covers well. It flows nicely and creates a nice finish. I'm using this Behr product as a finish coat over the Behr primer on some kitchen cabinets. For prep, I washed the face of the cabinet doors and the frames with a de-greasing cleaner, rinsed and sanded lightly when dry. I used a220 grit sanding block followed with 320 grit sandpaper. I then wiped the cabinets down with a tack rag before priming with the primer. The Behr finish coat went on evenly and smoothly and created a nice satin sheen. I hope you find this helpful.

I've used this product previously for some cabinet doors and trim moulding. Goes on easy and the finish levels out rather well when using a [good quality] brush. Very low odor (if any). The satin finish is classy and looks modern. The key is in the preparation. You must clean, sand, and prime well before top coating with this enamel. That's the case with most paints, however without priming, you risk getting uneven results and the paint may not stick well. This is not a very thick paint, and two thin coats are definitely recommended (sometimes three), but it comes out nice, dries hard and is durable. My experience with it so far has been great! Photos attached of door and trim were done with a brush (not sprayed).

This is a terrific cabinet paint! I put a layer of undercoat first and this frosty enamel white paint was very smooth to paint on it (I did not bother to sand.) I would recommend to use a foam roller rather than a brush as, based on my experience, it takes quite a bit of training to avoid streaks with a brush. The final product is really pleasing to the eye: very bright white while staying warm (not hospital white), really enjoyed painting and it is an affordable way to upgrade any kitchen. Highly recommend.

I got this paint to try it out and see how it worked and if it was something I wanted to incorporate into my cabinet shop. I was pleased with the primer and paint combination. With primer, the color is more robust with a single coat and it is more uniform - you don't see wood grain popping through as much. It painted well by hand, I have yet to spray it though. I have not sprayed the primer either but the pairing provided/recommended was excellent. We decided to use this for the kitchen island we are building for our reno house. The color is beautiful and goes well with the tile we have picked out and the other colors in the house. I have previously used the Behr Alkyd line for custom cabinets - both sprayed and rolled and they have worked great. The primer sealed untreated plywood with a single coat and rough wood trim with two coats. The paint dried quickly as did the primer so that we could do a second coat within an hour. There is quite a difference in the depth of the blue when you use the primer - I think it looks better and deeper with the primer.

The color quality of the black was excellent, very deep. If you want to see wood grain through the black then don't use the primer. The black still looks great but you get extra texture. First off, if you order this paint, it comes with easy to remove protective equipment on the top and bottom of the can to prevent can movement and spillage while in route. The paint itself is easy to mix and use. I found it works best if you apply several thin coats. I used the Behr ACRYLIC-ALKYD Enamel Undercoater on my workshop door and a drawer before applying the paint and am quite pleased with the result. Pay close attention to the directions on the can. It is recommended to allow 2 weeks for the paint to completely dry. After 4 days, I can still scratch the paint with my fingernail, so protect your work accordingly.

This is some really nice paint. I painted a bookshelf and some cabinets with this paint and I really like it. The finish is a nice hard white, and mine came out fairly glossy even though it says satin so if you're wanting very satin this isn't the paint for you. If you see the pictures you can see the reflections on the side so its fairly shiny which I don't mind. I would suggest using some kind of sprayer with it. The first coat I did was with a brush and there were definitely lines from the brush and it wasn't as even but when I pulled out my sprayer for the final coat it looks amazing.

I used the Behr premium ultra pure white satin to paint a high use, high abuse door between garage and house. I had used Sherwin Williams hybrid paint years ago. It held up well. But , it didn’t paint out smoothly. The dogs and grand children are super hard on the finish. It’s been almost a month and paint is holding up well. I wanted to try out this paint before I committed to painting kitchen cabinets I used brush and roller on door and trim. I’ll use air less sprayer for cabinets.

This is a high quality paint, with professional results & the perfect alternative to oil based paints. It is very easy to work with low odor and water cleanup, and no need for special brushes, equipment or disposal requirements. It takes 1 hour to dry and 2 hours between coats. I used a low nap foam roller and a brush and had good coverage after 2 coats with a primer (I have used both an alcohol based primer and also Behrs Acrylic Interior Kitchen, Bath, and Trim Stain-Blocking Primer and Sealer with good results https://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-1-Gal-White-Acrylic-Interior-Kitchen-Bath-and-Trim-Stain-Blocking-Primer-and-Sealer-07501/100144295 ). The paint has good adhesion on both repainted surfaces and new surfaces. The finish is durable after curing, which can take a few weeks (although it drys in only a few hours, the paint is not fully cured or at full strength). I put my freshly painted cabinets to use after just 2 days by putting a little plastic, or felt circle on the corner of each cabinet door, so the painted surfaces do not stick to one another. I use this paint on a cabinet in my laundry area and it has withstood damp clothes on it and other damp conditions, it is also rated for bathroom use. The cured paint is stain resistant, and also wipes clean easily with a damp rag and water. Also, the plastic lid and pour spout on the can makes it so the remainder of the paint can be stored and used for touch ups at a much later date without rusting lids, spills, dried paint residue or other problems commonly associated with metal lids. This paint would work good for baseboards, windows, doorways and other areas where a durable paint is needed. This can also be used on properly prepped drywall, masonry and metal.

This provided really good coverage and has a nice finish. I used it to paint kitchen cabinets and repaint some baseboards that had been scratched up by the dog. On the baseboard I used a standard paint brush, but with the cabinets I applied with a Wagner Flexio paint sprayer & I'm really pleased with the finish. I painted 10 feet of baseboard and all the lower cabinets in my kitchen and still have 3/4 of each gallon leftover. Highly recommend!

We moved into our home a couple years ago and since then, there’s always been projects to do to get things the way we want them. We recently decided it was time to paint some of the interior doors in the house. We chose this BEHR PREMIUM 1 gal. #12 Swiss Coffee Satin Enamel Interior Cabinet and Trim Paint because we liked the color and the product literature says it is good for cabinets, trim, doors, windows, shutters, and woodwork. When we got the paint, it was time to get to work. The doors were in good shape so they did not require a lot of prep but I cleaned them to ensure the paint adhered well. I then applied a coat of primer and when that was dried, I applied the first coat of paint. I was not painting a large surface so I went with a good nylon brush. The paint went on easily and looked nice and smooth. After allowing the paint to dry for a couple hours, I applied a second coat and it looked even better. The instructions say that doors can be closed after two hours but I allowed it to sit overnight before closing it. After the paint dried overnight, it seemed like it had dried to a nice, hard finish. I was very happy with the appearance of the door when I was finished. I am not a paint expert but this paint seemed to give a high quality finish and I am very happy with the results.

Behr black satin enamel interior cabinet and trim paint is top quality high end paint like all Behr product are. I used Behr Acrylic undercoat as recommended and it came out beautiful. I also used the Starlight blue paint, I painted one post the black and one the Starlight blue and of coarse the wife liked one and I liked the other, but either one will cover great and look perfect when I finish. I only will ever use Behr paints for all my projects.
