DAP Plastic Wood-X 8 oz. Repair Kit is a standard tub of plastic wood with tools. The kit consists of a tub of plastic wood, a 2-inch plastic putty knife and a medium/fine sanding block. I've been using DAP plastic wood for years and find it excellent. I prefer this large opening container to others since its easier to use with a putty knife. The knife goes in the container and you can scrap the excess off the knife on the sides back into it. Its important to not leave it uncovered and just to play safe tape the cover when storing after opening. If it should begin to dry a little water will bring it back. I use it regularly for both indoor and if used outside be sure to seal it with a coat of paint. Its great for filling in wood dings and other damage. Around the house its for repairs and frequently to fill enlarged screw holes to tighten or cover them. It did a good job repairing some cosmetic decay on the basement stairs that were deep before I painted them. This particular product has a new feature where it changes color as it dries. I can see it helpful in situations, but its more sometime nice to have than a necessity. The filler does take sanding well after drying and can be painted just fine with either oil or water based paint. The problem with fillers is they can shrink, if put it in too deep when dry. This DAP wood filler didn't seem to do this as much. Its a good product, easy to work and makes a permanent fix. I tried this plastic wood out on a gash in a plywood built kitchen cabinet. The putty knife included is stiff and worked fine. Just a small amount on the blade and smooth off the excess with a clean part of the knife. Once dry, as stated, it does change color then I sanded it smooth with both the medium and then fine sides of the sanding block. It looks good and is ready to paint. DAP has been around for a long time and this latest version of their plastic wood repair is up to their standard.

Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this to fill a hole/gap on my wood floor. It had worked extremely well. I was definitely surprised. I was extremely pleased the way it turned out. It was very easy to do. Just follow the directions. This had worked way better compared to others I have used in past. Others I've tried have dried way to fast almost immediately. This one dries fast but not as fast as others. With this one I was able to finish before it dried. This one also doesn't smell as bad as others I've used. I would definitely buy this product to use for future projects around my home

Easily patched drill holes and repaired damaged corner on a pressboard desktop. The different colors made available made a match possible.

This product is not worth buying. We used it because it was supposed to be able to be stained. Well we put the finish in the areas that we used the Plastic Wood. And it turned out terrible. It was so far off color from the areas that did not have the Plastic Wood filler. Now we have to dig it out of where we put it and redo it with the real wood filler. I will never use this stuff again.

Worked well for filling large nail holes. Good consistency for spreading with a spatula.

I have a storm door that has swung open a few times in high winds (not a door issue it is a human issue). I now had a problem with the screws no longer being secure and some the of wood being a bit shredded. The plastic wood was used to solve the shredded issue along with wider and longer screws. I purchased a small plastic container, if you thinking of saving this after using it for other use somewhere down the road, probably a better idea to just throw it out as the container is not really airtight..

DAP Plastic Wood works!. Apply very easy and dry very fast from pink color when wet to light wood color when dry. I use fine sand paper (150) I bought at Home Depot before painting with Behr oil base white paint the kitchen and garage doors. The smooth finish impressed my wife. I would recommend this product.

Really my first time using this product. It goes on a little bit thicker than spackling but was easy to use. Once it turns colors from pink to light it is ready to sand and then paint.
