Thank you for posting your review on DAP Plastic Wood-X Latex Wood Filler. Plastic Wood-X is not designed or marketed as a "waterproof" product. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "Exterior applications must be coated with latex or oil-based paint or solid color stain”. The only way that the product would behave as described is if there was moisture exposure. This means that water is entering the patch through the paint or bypassing it (from the edges or from underneath). Because you did not provide enough information on your application conditions, application surfaces, surface preparation or application technique, we are not able to provide more specific product usage/corrective guidance in this format. Water-based wood fillers will experience volume loss during their drying phase, to counter this, as indicated in the product usage guidance we recommend: "Build fill up slightly higher than surface to allow for settling and sanding."
