Our 2020 kitchen remodel has main & bar sink Delta faucets that both have this cartridge, and both have failed every ~2yrs with the exact same issues reported by other reviewers: drippy, requiring fiddling with handle position/pressure to get it completely shut off. For our last replacement, RP50587 cartridge instructions now have a new NOTICE inserted with instructions on how to properly torque the bonnet nut holding the cartridge in place to between 70-90 in-lbs (see attached clip). I used a torque wrench/socket as specified, and after several months our faucet is still operating smoothly with no hints of dripping or stiffness. Could it be that over-tightening to more than 90in-lbs during manufacture/replacement been found to cause cartridge damage and dripping?? While we otherwise really like our faucets, and although Delta support has always been helpful and honored warranty replacement quickly, I think some "get well" actions should happen here: The "Maintenance & Installation Sheet" posted by Delta here is old (Aug2010) and should be updated to the current version with NOTICE about proper torque range. The old version only has a WARNING about not getting it securely tightened enough. Similarly, the Maintenance section of faucet instructions that use this cartridge should be updated, instead of just that WARNING about failing to get the bonnet nut tight enough. People getting warranty replacements should be alerted by Delta support to this torque range requirement, and instructed to pass this along if a plumber is doing the replacement.

There were only two cartridges available in the store. BOTH had been opened and poorly scotch taped back together…….Cartridge seems to be in working condition.

The cartridges on these models are made to fail in less than 2 years. Never again will I pay for delta.

This is the second time replacing this part. It seems to last about 4 to 5 years then starts to go bad. I don't mind replacing, but the price is a joke, $54 for a part that probably costs $5. Nice of you offer free shipping. Which brings me to why so big of a box?

Delta made me love their products. They guaranteed the replacement and helped me through the process. I will always buy Delta. Call them. There associates will help you identify what you need and will send it to you free if it is under warranty. They have american speaking representatives that walk u through the process. Best customer service.

I am a landlord with multiple properties. It makes my life much easier when repairs can be done quickly and effectively. This part was easy to replace. I wish it hadn’t stopped working in the first place, but that’s the way it goes!

We moved into our home six years ago, and this cartridge was in the faucet the previous owner had installed. It recently started to leak, and using the Delta website, I disassembled the faucet, removed the cartridge, cleaned it, reassembled it and now have a leak-proof faucet once again!

We have a 3 year old Delta faucet that started leaking. When I disassembled the cartridge, I found that the cheap white plastic sleeve or mounting disc that separates the black articulating ball from the white ceramic disc had broken apart. See attached photo. I attempted to glue this disc, so it looks less broken. However you can see that the half circle part that protrudes breaks down. In my case, it had almost completely separated or ripped off of the main white disc surface. This wear is from the protrusion from the black plastic ball wearing against this surface even though it is heavily lubricated from the factory. Because of this issue, this made it difficult to completely close off the water to the faucet. I disassembled the entire cartridge, cleaned all the parts, and reassembled without the plastic sleeve. I added some lithium grease lubricant to the ball assembly. The faucet now works and water shuts off completely without dripping. However, without the the plastic sleeve there is a little extra "slack" that you can feel when articulating the handle. The plastic sleeve acted to reduce or eliminate this slack, but when it breaks down, it interrupts with the proper movement of the ceramic discs. So, the faucet can operate without the disc, but you do have a bit of slack until the black ball engages the half circle slot in the white ceramic disc. While not 100% ideal, this is a good enough fix for an average product. I think if Delta manufactured this plastic disc out of a stronger material, they would eliminate the problem.

The quality of these cartridges is terrible. I replaced one 2 years ago and 2 more in the last year. Usage is on a regular house.... I will try this time with a non genuine alternative as paying the higher price for the original doesn't bring any advantage.

2 1/2 years old. This faucet began leaking after only a year, then failed completely. I took the valve apart and determined the thin white plastic retainer, which holds the base of the lever in place, cracked. The bottom of the lever slips slightly out of the base and the sliding valve is unable to close completely, allowing the water to run.

Stick with Delta's brand. Our Leland Faucet was 10 years old and it wouldn't shut off the water easily or it'd leak sometimes. I replaced this by prying off the little cover on the handle, using an allen key to take the handle off, unscrew the dome shaped part under the handle, then used a wrench to loosen the nut holding this cartridge down. Attached are the pictures of the old one. It looked pretty good but the internal parts must've moved or something. Instructions said no internal parts are repairable so it's a good thing I got a new cartridge. Popped it in, put the nut back on it, and reinstall everything. Took me under 6 minutes. Delta does offer a lifetime warranty on this part so contact them if you can wait

Fixed my dripping faucet. Easy to find instructions online at Delta. Seems a little pricey @ $40 for just a piece of plastic and some new rubber gaskets.

Great product but I think that the price is too much above $40.00

Item no longer required because wife wanted a new faucet not a repaired one. The return process at the Keene New Hampshire store was excellent.

Ordered online and it was ready for pickup in 10 minutes. Handyman installed in less than 10 minutes the next day!

Delta faucet was dripping hard to get the right to stop the flow of water, the cartridge fixed the problem.

Well, I purchased this to repair my slightly leaking Delta faucet. The faucet and parts are warranted essentially for life. I contacted Delta about a replacement. Even though I had registered the faucet purchase at the time I bought it, they wanted photos and PDfs of the faucet, sales receipt and label on the supply hose. I had all the info and sent it in under a “case number” they assigned. Six plus weeks later after several resubmissions of the same info, Delta responded that they were sending me a new cartridge under warranty. Thus, I returned this and saved 40 plus bucks. Moen is MUCH better at honoring their warranties.

Works as it should. No more dripping. Replaced because original started dripping when shut off

OEM replacement. Second time in 15 years (?) I have had to replace. These cartridges do need to be replaced. Very happy with quality. Big difference once new cartridge is installed. Instructions are straight forward. Took me about 10 minutes to swap out the old for the new. Cartridge is expensive ($40), but you can expect 7-8 years of solid performance.
