Failed after about 15 months.
Title. Fan and condenser seem to run, but refrigerant has either totally leaked out or is not making it to the coils - absolutely no moisture being pulled from the air. Worked excellently for the whole first year+ of having it and kept basement dry; pump system saved the hassle of emptying the tank manually. Unit was properly cared for and maintained, not abused in any way. Simply is not working anymore. Absolutely astounding for a $300 appliance from a company like GE. Ripoff.

    This dehumidifier does EXACTLY what it is advertised to do. Also, efficient and easy to setup/program for operation. Air blows out from the top as opposed to the side and makes for better air circulation in the room. Works well below grade if air is cool. Does not ice-up.

    Dehumidifier dies every 6-12 months
    I'm on my third one of these exact models that has stopped working with 6-12 months; they just stop collecting water, and eventually won't turn on the compressor. I've tried other brands, but they fail just as much, if not more often. My first GE dehumidifier purchased in 2016 lasted 4 or so years, and since then (now 2023) I've had no less than 6 more of various brands. All are rated 50 pt. (formerly 70 pt.) and for >4000 sq ft/high humidity. I have 2000 sq ft with medium to high humidity.

      Using it in my basement. Very effective to reduce humidity. No issues or problems encountered as of yet.

      This thing is terrible like everyone is saying. It doesn't work after 2 years and I wasn't even using it aggressively or even during the winter. I basically got like 10 months or so of actually on time. Just like all the other reviewers are saying. It's a terrible product. I'm quite shocked and disappointed because of how good GE has been with any other product.

        BUYER BEWARE!!
        My unit failed just outside of the warranty period. I called GE to complain, and they offered me a $50 rebate certificate to use on a new one. Don't get me started on GE's laughable automated customer service line. I will also spare you the horrific details on the hoops I have to jump through just to receive the $50, IN 12 WEEKS. Not worth my time. Ill just blast them with a bunch of bad reviews, and make sure everyone I know NEVER buys a GE product again.

          Every one star review is all the same, don't make the mistake of thinking your purchase will end differently. These GE units are poorly made, and DO NOT LAST. Mine failed, just like everyone else. You are throwing your hard earned money down the toilet if you buy one. GE seems to have no interest in helping those who got scammed. I see they left generic responses on some peoples reviews, in which they offer no solution, just a false promise of actually helping you.

            Evap coils rust out after 1-3 years.
            You will need to replace this every 2 years on average because the evap coils, which are designed to condense water, will rust and then leak refrigerant. Asinine that they would design the evap coils to rust that quickly. And of course there's only a one-year warranty.

              No assembly required. Plug in and go. Works great just wish it had the drain plug to have continuous drainage but still recommend.

              Avoid this dehumidifiere
              Purchased in 2018, quit working in 2021. GE cooperated with a small "refund" and a certificate that had to be used for another GE appliance. Needed a dehumidifier, so purchased this one in October 2021. Used it for a month, shut it off for the winter, and used it during the summer of 2022 and shut it off for the winter. It never worked again. It starts if you plug it in, turn it on, but quits after about 10 minutes and will not restart unless you unplug it and start over. Followed the manual for cleaning, etc, to no avail. Local appliance repair places won't bother with it. GE says should have purchased an extended warranty. Buy this GE Dehumidifier at your own risk.

                Stopped working just out of warranty
                Worked fine for 3 weeks of use. Stored it and went to use next year. Like many it would start up, runs the fan for a bit and shuts down without collecting water. Guessing the freon had leaked out. With 300 one star reviews for basically the same problem, perhaps Home Depot should review it's own reviews on discontinue selling this product, it's a black eye.

                  I purchased 2 and they both lasted 5 years and then stoped working within a month of each other, i feel for the price, they should have lasted longer. I did clean them often. I am about to purchase 2 more but i will look at other brands. On a scale of 1 to 5 I would give it a 2 1\2 stars,

I've been using an older version (same model) that is > 7 years old and wow, the newer version is quieter, produces more water, humidity sensor works better. I guess I waited too long to replace the old one. Lesson learned! Will buy again. Thanks.

                        Only Runs for a Few Minutes
                        Put into service on 9/30/19 in the basement that has heat/AC year around. For the past several months it will only run for a few minutes. Display functions appear normal and I can change the settings but it has to be turned off and on to get it to run. Tried all the settings including the setting to run continuous and still has the same problem. Looks like I'm off to purchase a replacement and it won't be a GE...

                          I've had this dehumidifier for over a year and it's still running perfectly. Hopefully, it stays that way. It's a little noisy but I don't have anything to compare it too since this is my first one I've used. I would recommend this product to whoever is looking for a dehumidifier . I can't speak on customer service or delivery since i bought it at the store and haven't needed to use customer service.
