Excellent coverage and application. Only used about 1 gallon but directions said I should have used 3+ gallons. I applied thick too with 3/4 nap roller. I would buy gallons vs the 5 gallon for coverage of RV roof. Mine is a 25 footer.

Doug, the coverage rate of Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone is a minimum of one gallon for 67 square feet or 1.5 gallons per 100 square feet. Roof coatings work much differently than paint products as you are not just renewing or changing the color, with a roof coating you need to apply a specific minimum mil thickness. If your RV is 8' wide your roof should be approximately 200 square feet with a requirement of at least 3+ gallons. The specified thickness is required for protection against the penetrating rays of the sun. Thank you for putting your trust in Henry products and the Home Depot.

First off this isn't a fake review, like most Home Depot reviews are ?
This stuff is amazing. BUT you'll need to scrape off ALL the old caulking before applying, and make sure it is SQUEAKY CLEAN!! We used LA'S totally awesome to clean it, then went over it again with clean rags, which was probably close to 40 rags as they were immediately dirty. Run your finger on the roof and make sure it SQUEAKS. Use Henry 884 which is compatible. I caulked, and then applied this product 24 hours later. The instructions say to power wash it but I would not recommend power washing a camper unless you want water damage. I am impressed and glad we got it. But if you think you're going to buy this bucket and put it straight onto a dirty roof, you are going to waste your money! It's quite a pain to get a roof clean enough to apply. Still worth it.

Great review. As with all paints, caulks and roof coatings the adhesion they get to the surface depends on how clean the surface is. People pressure wash their house before painting it because they want the paint to bond to the siding and not the dust that is on the siding. The same principle is true for the roof but even more important!. The roof sustains more damage from the sun and collects more dirt, dust and debris than the siding does which is why it is important to make the roof as clean as possible. Henry Tropicool is the best. I followed the preparation instructions: pressure washed my roof, filled cracks with Henry 884, and applied two coats of Henry 887. My new roof looks awesome and feels like it will last a lifetime.

The Most Expensive But the BEST .
I Tried Other white Roof Paint Sealer trying to save but Nothing Compare Tropicool by Henry, it is Very Pricey about 3 times more than the Competition or even Henry Cheaper version, but there is Absolutely No comparaison about the Result. Tropicool by Henry is the BEST Pure White silicone Roof Sealer you can Buy.

When you wrote "nothing compares" to TropiCool you were right in more ways than people know. Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone is the proverbial apples to oranges comparison. Even though competitive acrylic white coatings and Henry other white coatings may LOOK the same that is where the similarity ends. All of the coatings are reflective but Henry 887 is also waterproof, rain ready in 15 minutes, applied in only a single coat, cures in 2 to 6 hours, permanently ponding water resistant, has DPR technology, (dirt pick-up resistance), can be applied at 35 degrees as opposed to 50 degrees and best of all lasts a lifetime. Just wow...
From the help of Alfredo, to all the steps explained from him. Till we gave the treatment.
I'm in awe of how it turned out, I really love the smoothness, the clean look and the quality of it.
We bought it thinking it will have a warranty and we wont have to do this work for a long time or even never again. Is not cheap, but is so worth it for me.
This exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend it, and highly recommend Alfredo's help in the store. Soooo, if you're by Bayamon, visit him. =)

After a year of applying the product according to the manufacturer's instructions, it turned a yellow color and has lifted in many places on my ceiling, it did not conform to its specifications and on top of that they do not have customer service in Puerto Rico. I bought it at Home Depot and is unacceptable and to make matters worse, no one can help me, waste of money and time invested.

Product is unusable in 30 minutes.
Got the 5 gallon bucket. I had poured 1/3 in other bucket. After approximately 30 minutes it formed such a thick film that it was not rollable anymore. It was extremely lumpy after 30 minutes. I do not recommend this product.
Called Henry and they told me that you're supposed to cover it up to keep it from drying out well, how can you prevent it from drying out.
I also asked if it was possible to thin it out because you could not roll it. The answer was no you cannot send it.

John, we are sorry that you had a bad experience with Henry 887. However, the fact that the product skinned over in 30 minutes is a design feature purposefully built into the product. Unlike acrylic white roof coatings, Henry 887 is rain ready in 15 minutes and won't wash off the roof if it suddenly rains after you have applied the coating. Roof Coatings are constantly being improved and even though they may look the same the application process may change with the improvements. The Henry 887 label requests the customer to "Read the Entire Label" prior to application since the curing process of Henry 887 is to start curing the instant it comes in contact with air, thus requiring the need to keep the unused portion in the bucket to be covered. If a skin forms on the unused portion you can lift it off and continue using the product. Some other features of Henry 887 are that it only requires one coat, cures in 2 to 6 hours, is waterproof and best of all lasts a lifetime. Thank you for your comments.

So far, so good
We have a small (12'x20') studio out-building with a very old flat roof that California's wet winter last year revealed was leaking badly. Estimates from roofers ranged from $3-5,000 - far more than I wanted to spend. I considered several DIY options and did some research on TropiCool coating. I had my doubts. Well, we've only had a couple of storms so far, so the jury's still out - but as of now, we're watertight & no leaks. Fingers crossed.

Started to fail and is now leaking
We used this product for tropical conditions. It has not held up to being water proof. Lots of rain over the past month and leak after leak. Construction had to be halted.

Excellent for flat roof
We had a section of the roof that was a torch down. It was only 7 years old and pitting and developed a hole. cleaned this off, and 2 days later rolled on 4 gallons of this. each gallon is only .9gallons but it felt like less. Get the 5 gallon and then singles or multiple 5s. you'll use more than you think and if you have left over you can do another layer over a problem area

Roof coating is perfect; power washed the roof; acetoned it afterward; applied the first coat; brushed the edges; let it all dry and adhere… then applied the second coat… easy to use and one gallon covered a 6x12 cargo trailer room… with 2 coats and trim.

Terrible waste of hard earned money!
Bought a 4.5 gallon bucket from Home Depot on Tuesday. Started the project early Saturday went to stir it with my paint mixer on the end of my drill and noticed some flakes or clumps, stirred it for about 20 min more went to use and had to keep picking dried clumps off the roof. Maybe that’s why they put a full 5 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket. Not 4.5 the paint probably kept drying everytime it was moved inside the bucket because of too much air.
Terrible and I would like a refund.

Tropi-cool is definitely the shiznit to keep your RV cool
Bought this to cover/seal my motorhome roof to help with the AZ heat this summer. We winter in the Phoenix area and usually leave by May, this year we've decided to stay put. There are a lot of rigs in the RV park with additional window AC units but their electric bills are astronomical. We've already had several days of 100+ temps and the Tropi-cool has made a noticeable difference in keeping the temps manageable. We're really happy with the results. Also on the plus side our 20 year old roof looks brand new.
The directions say this can be applied up to 120 degrees, but I wouldn't recommend it. Also make sure there is *no* wind at all.

Henrys terrible clumping compound
I used this product, sealed after first thin coat, on day 2 when stirring it clumped up terribly. Should be sold in better airtight packaging. Bucket is not full at purchase and & allows too much air space. The cost is too expensive to waste over half at nearly $400.

Handyman, Henry 887 TropiCool 100% silicone is a moisture cure product that pulls water molecules from the atmosphere to cure. Once the pail is opened the product will want to cure which is why we suggest that you use the entire bucket once it is opened. If the entire bucket is not used it will form a skin over the top of the product. If this happens just remove the skin and remix the product.

This stuff is fantastic! I used henry 687 on my last rv and their is no comparison. Henry rep said to put it on thinkness of a quarter so i did. I used at least 3 gallons maybe more on 30 ft camper, 1 vent, 1 airconditioner (not covered). Another benefit not mentioned is it quiets the rain. Only place i heard rain was on the skylight. My dog hates the rain

Resealed the EPDM roof on my Tiffin Allegro Bus, Spring of 2022 with Henry's 887 Tropi-Cool 😎
Sealed the roof edge to edge.
The Motor Home is in Central Florida and has been through two hurricanes, took a direct hit from Hurricane Ian. No leaks or signs of damage.
Hot as Hades here in February 2023, AC decided to take a Siesta, internal temp rose to 82 f degrees.
Tropi-Cool definitely helps reflect heat away...

TropiCool does not bond to the roof like acrylic white roof coatings do which is a simple drying process where the water in the product evaporates and leaves the solids on the roof. It is kind of like an egg yolk drying on a plate. TropiCool forms a very strong chemical bond on the roof so it can withstand the rigors and stresses on RV roofs. Get it! And prep it!
I can’t say enough about this product. Follow instructions and it’s easy to use. I applied it to my garage first knowing it would would work, but it exceeded my expectations, so I applied it to my house as well. I cleaned the roof, pressure washed them. Let them dry. Applied 885. Then applied 887. Honestly the most satisfying DYI I’ve ever done and I’ve done dozens.

Really impressed so far
Needed a good product to use on a camper I keep at my hunting camp. It had a few areas that leaked before I bought it and I patched it all up with new roofing and self sealing tape. That was 3 yrs ago so I wanted it sealed again.I cleaned the roof really good and the next day I put the 1st coat of this product on and was pleased with how easy it went on. The next day I went up to check on it and I was really impressed with it. Since I had plenty left I went ahead and did a 2nd coat. Looks great.

Excellent product so far
This is the best product I have used on my flat roof so far. I tried a few others before, and they failed. Of course, I will monitor how it performs in wintertime and will report back. I like the texture when it is cured. It is expensive for the coverage it provides. Compared to having a professional vs doing it yourself it is a big saving for sure.

Great product over a primer. No leaks and big difference in temperature.
Used this as a second coat over lanco for a flat asphalt burned roof. I've had no leaks in the heavy rainy summer season of Florida. Also noticed a huge difference in temperature in the garage below reflecting heat and sun.

Shiny and Sealed my roof.
Researched asked questions and concluded this was my best option for my TPO roof that had a lifetime warranty: NOT. It was hard to convince the wife but she agreed to 1. I layed out my area. Prepped as per instructions. I was not at all impressed w/TSP cleaning. The wife mixed 1/3cp dawn & 1 cp bleach in my sprayer: double the work but superior outcome, even on the none TSP areas. Saved me a lot of work. She was impressed: ok’ed #2. Divided my pail into 1/4’s for coverage, dipped & rolled away.

Fixed my flat leaky roof...
Great product for the tropics, seals very well... Tried using the Envirowhite elastomeric coating first, but it did not adhere well, and my roof leaked like crazy. Spoke with a Henry's rep and they suggested the Tropicool for my Cementous roof, it sealed things up quickly and effectively.

Miahallen, Henry TropiCool works especially well in a tropical environment. It's formula uses moisture cure technology and pulls water molecules out of the air as opposed to curing by evaporation. So the higher the humidity the faster it cures. Acrylic white coatings are not waterproof, they are designed for reflectivity to cool the roof as well as the interior. Brilliantly white and keeps the trailer cool.
This stuff is just awesome. I've used some other roof paint before and this tops it. The biggest suggestion I have is to do it on a wind-calm day. Also, be prepared for bugs to land on it and be a permanent part of your roof. :D I recommend this stuff to anyone redoing their trailer roof.

Buy this!!!!
1000 sq ft flat roof bitumen with some quality patch work over the years. Used 2 gallons of the thicker seam sealer 885 I think. Pressured washed very gently and let dry a few days. Just patched up a few suspect areas but nothing was leaking. Tropicool goes on like honey, you’re not really painting but coating. It was a hot humid day so the product cures pretty fast, should have a helper poring the product while another person rolls it out.
My product was only 2 weeks old and needed stiring.

Problem Solver (But Not Cheap)
I needed a product that would stick to my fiberglass deck, fill puddles, and have some durability for low foot traffic. This did the trick. This is NOT a flooring product, but my deck is mostly a roof for my garage. For the little bit that I'm walking on it, it is surprisingly tough. I put it on very think in spots, and it cured fine. The cured residue that comes out of the empty bucket reminds me of a swim cap. Rubbery and surprisingly stretchable before breaking. I second coated some spots and it bonded fine. I spent about $100 per gallon for this, but it did solve my problem. I used 20 gallons total, and plan to buy five more gallons to cover all the untreated spots (just for looks).

Good Product
I coated the roofing paper on my 500ft2 garage with this product. I've done elastomeric costings before, this is the first time with silicone. I calculated 1.5 containers, and that's about what it took for the first coat, which had to coat the granules on the roofing material. I used the rest of the container for a second coat, which went on much thinner and I was able to do 90% of the roof. My roof doesn't have much slope; overnight between coats it rained, and there was a lot of water to sweep off in the morning, which says the product was sealing well. In the past, the manufacturer's coverage info was way short, which I was worried about because a 5 gallon container costs nearly $500 here in Hawaii, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Paul, very nice comments about Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone roof coating. Coverage rates of our silicone roof coating always vary according to several variables. If the surface to be coated is very smooth then coverage will be approximately 320 square feet per 4.75 gallon bucket. If the surface is rough, (such as a granulated roll roofing), then the coverage could be 250 square feet per bucket. The age of the roof will also affect the coverage since an older "thirsty" or dried out roof will require a bit more product to cover the same area.
