Used Blue Max and then Max Stretch to ‘renew’ old bur flat roof, per recommendation of Ames Research. Project went well and I am happy with the results. Looking forward to 10+ years of additional service from this roof.

We used this coating on our cord wood and concrete chicken coop. It went on smoothly and evenly. We already had it coated last year, so we only used one coat. The stretchable and thick nature of this coating made this quite easy to cover everything completely. We like the reflectivity of the coating as well. The container that it comes in makes it easy to pour and easier to carry. This 5-gallon container will cover quite a bit for us this summer.

This looks to be an excellent upgrade to the ordinary white elastomeric roof coating product. It is "rubberized" which gives it highly improved flexibility and stretch. It is also up to 98% reflective, which provides superior UV resistance and heat insulation in direct sunlight. In addition to the more common uses on roofing, because it is flexible, I have used this type of coating on fabric that is exposed to constant sunlight, which, due to the UV bombardment is degraded over time. The first picture I've included shows a vinyl coated fabric awning cover at my home that I coated with ordinary elastomeric paint about five years ago. It has become somewhat discolored, but has held up well otherwise. The second picture shows this same awning cover after I recoated it with this new Ames Maximum-Stretch coating. Application was simple, I just cleaned the cover with a brush and then used a paint brush to apply the new coating. Coverage is claimed to be 100 sq ft per gallon per coat and that appears to be an accurate estimate. Again, the cover remains flexible, waterproof and is once more UV and sunlight reflecting. For a larger surface, a roller is the preferred way to apply this product. I'll be using a roller when I apply it to the roof of my travel trailer. Two coats are generally used for maximum durability. The instructions, say it CAN be sprayed, but it is a VERY thick product, so it would have to be thinned if applied this way. Cleanup is a simple process using water and it dissolves easily as long as it has not cured. Once cured, it is weatherproof. Curing time is 2-4 hours. The third and fourth pictures show the container it came in. The top has a small white cap that can be removed to pour the product into a smaller container if needed, which is what I did to apply it to my awning cover. The back of the container has detailed application instructions with illustrations that show how to use it on a variety of surfaces.

Ames White Maximum-Stretch Rubber and Acrylic Reflective Roof Coating: I ordered this to seal the metal roof on a patio cover that leaks during the rainy season. It is June in San Diego, so I won't know until winter if it worked, but the product itself seems to be good quality. It is thick so it doesn't run, and spread easily with just a paint roller, though the instructions recommend application by spraying. I took pictures of the application notes, and the roof area I am trying to seal. Unfortunately the roof pictures exceed the maximum 5MB file size, and I don't know how to fix this. Oh, well. I am waiting to see how well just the product actually works. A few days to dry, and a hosing down may be sufficient for testing. In the future, I may also have to replace the roll roofing at the edge with flashing, but we'll see.

We are hoping to gain 3-4 years additional life use of the flat metal roof currently in place, so hoping the 12-yr. warranty bodes us luck. We are using totally for waterproofing measures but if it does reduce energy costs, we will take that bonus additionally. We have coated in the past with a different brand black rubberized coating, but it is once again time to do it again. We have not tried this brand before but liked how it read and if it lives up to what it claims, we will be happy. After preparing a small area of the roof (if it works on the test area and holds up for a month or 2) we will do the rest of the roof over the summer to be ready for the snowy winter in upstate NY. I used a large brush to apply on the ribs and then a roller to apply to the sections between ribs. It went on very easily using both application methods. It has a very nice consistency for either application method. Instructions recommended 2 coats with 24 hrs. (Non-precipitation period) minimum between applications. I prepped as the instructions advised, I saw no signs of bubbling (this roof only has shade coverage on a portion for about 90 minutes per evening) and it felt dry to the touch at hour 24, I applied 2nd coat at hour 26. We now have had a substantial hard rain from hours 48-56, then enough sun to dry the roof, and are back to light but steady rain and NO leaking in the test area!!! But leaking still in the areas we didn’t coat yet (both areas were leaking simultaneously before). Ames has passed the initial test; I still intend to get through another heavy rain or 2 before completing the rest of the roof.

I have 4,600 square feet of flat urethane foam roof coated with a white acrylic paint. While the paint on the flat part of the roof is still in good condition, the problem is where the low parapet block walls on 3 sides of the roof join the flat section. I get a lot of hairline cracking in the white acrylic where the vertical joins the horizontal. I wanted to cover the parapets with a high quality extra flexible coating, and when I read the specs for the Ames Maximum Stretch Rubber and Acrylic, I knew I had found the solution to the problem. I used my power washer to thoroughly clean the sides and top of the parapet walls and then I spread on a good thick coat of the Ames Roof Coating. The coating covered the walls very well in one application, and a great added benefit was that it required no stirring prior to use. After reading various internet reviews on the outstanding longevity of this Ames coating, when the time comes for a total recoat, Ames Maximum Stretch will cover my entire roof.

I used this on my metal warehouse roof
I had numerous leaks through out the metal roof on my warehouse roof. I coated all of the seams with the Ames Blue Max followed by 2 coats of Maximum Stretch and it’s been sealed for the last 2 years!
