Worth the price
After struggling for 2 days to remove 2 starter mounting bolts these saved the day. Other kits were too shallow to clear the stud that attaches the ground nut and these worked out well for clearance. For my 13mm bolt which has been rusting away for the past 15 years I hammered on a 12 mm socket. Using a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter I could now get some torque on the nut and with plenty of force it did finally break loose.

    Complete Trash
I bought these bolt extractors to remove a slightly rounded off bolt from a wheel hub. I got maybe 2 turns of the problem bolt before the extractor teeth stripped and became useless. Complete waste of money and time buying these. Look for an extractor that isn't weaker than the bolt you're trying to remove. Avoid this.

      Worked on the first try
Had a rounded 14mm exhaust manifold nut on a Nissan Altima that was just not coming out. Tried everything… map torch, penetrating oil, slightly smaller socket, and nothing worked. Went over to the Home Depot down the street from my house and picked up this set and a set of metal cutting wheels… didn’t end up needing the cutting wheels because the 14mm socket from this set worked like a charm. Just hammer it on the nut or bolt so it bites, and then just twist with a 3/8” wrench. Saved my butt!

        Saved my brake job
The 12mm bolt on my brake caliper mounting bracket was rounded and nothing would get it off. I soaked it with PB blaster overnight and bought this set for the 12mm socket. Got the socket on it with a breaker bar and gripped nicely and cracked loose.

Worked like a charm. I was skeptical due to some negative reviews. but i used the 13mm to remove a corroded-shut starter bolt. I had rounded the edges pretty good. Make sure to hammer the socket in to get good contact on the bolt. From the first try, i got it off, but actually, i broke the bolt head. But worked like a charm, that bolt was really frozen shut due to rust.

            Works great!
I successfully removed a rounded transmission bolt that was over torqued and in a very tight spot with no other way to access it. This thing saved the day. I had already tried hammering other sockets onto it and they kept slipping off. This thing held on and I removed the bolt on the first try. Life saver.

Bought these to remove rusty exhaust manifold bolts / nuts that were in poor shape. Did not work as required on first attempt. Moved to disassembling exhaust. Same issue; no go. More heat, lots of work, finally got exhaust disassembled. Pulled heads with catalytic converter attached. Was very much ready to throw new sockets in trash and give them a 1-star review, but I did use them to remove exhaust manifold when heads were on work bench. So I did use them successfully. They beat vice grips, and I’ll likely use them again. But for the price, I think there are better options (maybe Irwin) if you can find them. They’ll stay in my toolbox, but I’m not gonna run out and buy the sae equivalent.

These husky dual direction Metric extraction sockets work really good on everything I’ve used them on. Rounded bolts. Rusted bolts and even got lucky and it worked on a stud I was needing to remove to replace. If you use on a stud just make sure your not planning on reusing the stud because it will damage the stud and threads I didn’t give it 5 stars because I notice they didn’t work well when I used my 3/8’s aircat impact with these sockets. I guess because it’s spins faster then anything else I have so it was wanting to kick the socket off. Worked well with my battery powered tools and hand tools.

Excellent design does great job on rusted extraction, but this is a specialty tool and likely low use. I really like the quality of this Husky extraction bit set. You can hear the superior heat treatment when you clack the sockets together. I also like that the socket size is printed on the side of the socket in a large easy to read font. The sides of the socket are tapered which grip a damaged or rusted bolt head. As you can see from the photo below a new bolt head just barely inserts. The idea is to grip the bolt tightly for removal. These are a special use tool that is indispensable when needed but not really for everyday use. Although it’s only $20 bucks (at the time of this review) it likely will be a low use tool. I also was disappointed that the two impact adapters are loose and do not attach to the socket racket, which means they are more likely to get misplaced. About my rating: 5 stars – Exceeds all expectations. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+). 4 stars – Nicely done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. (B) 3 stars – Works as expected. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. (C). 2 stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Pass and look elsewhere. (D) 1 star – Fails miserably. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. Someone at the company should be fired. (F)

Works as designed and is a handy extractor set for easily heavy corroded or rounded off fastener heads. Depending on size, extractor will be either a 3/8" or 1/4" drive size that can be used with either a ratchet of your choice, or can be used with the included long shank bit driver adapters. Works in both forward and reverse directions. Comes with a decent and durable oxide finish with laser size markings.

What an improvement for bolt extraction! Back in the day, to remove a stripped bolt I had to first drill a hole then tap a special rod into it. Next, I added a special nut onto the rod and carefully tried to unscrew the stripped bolt out. Often, the rod would slip - it really was a poor system (see photo). Husky extractor sockets work great and have saved me some headaches. I definitely can recommend these sockets.

This is an interesting product. It is made for fasteners with rounded corners that regular sockets will not work on. These fit the flats so they still will allow you to put torque on the fastener. I haven't had the opportunity to try them yet. they seem like a good alternative to vise grips or a pipe wrench since they should not further damage the fastener.

This is a nice set of sockets for removing tough nuts and bolts. They can also be used to drive those same bolts back in place again too. They are made from Chrome Molybdenum steel. You get 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, and 14mm sockets in the set. It seems peculiar to skip the 9mm and 11mm sizes. The sockets all have square drives and two 1/4” hexagonal drives are provided to drive them using regular power tools, including impact drivers. The 8mm socket takes a 1/4” square drive and the other four take a 3/8” square drive. Each socket is clearly marked with its size. The sockets have a gray plastic holder that hold them neatly in place when not in use. (The SAE version has a black holder, so it is easy to differentiate between the two sets.) The sockets can also be rotated when on their holder so that their sizes are visible. The two drivers are however, loose. Made in China Lifetime Warranty

I've purchased items from the Husky brand before and have yet to be disappointed. These are no different. I tested these out on a table that had some loose legs on it. I really like the fact that these can be used manually or with a drill. They included two separate drill bits (1/4" & 3/8") for use with different types of drills. The thing that I really liked about these sockets is the rounded edges on the top. This will allow a tighter grip on rusted or worn bolts. I used an impact drill to tighten up the legs on my table and I didn't experience any slipping and the fit was tight. They are also black oxide coated which should provide better resistance to corrosion or rust. These are a very good set of sockets and I definitely recommend them.

Saved me from having to use a torch. Great for rusty bolts. Came in handy when removing bolts on a 20 year old truck leaf spring mount. I also had a situation with rusty toilet bolts and another time with rounded off break caliper bleeder. Overall these are a must have and make the job much easier and quicker without having to cut bolts. These are very high quality and the organization rail is very nice and easy to use.

This is my review of the Husky Metric Extraction socket set. I needed to remove some old worn bolts. The heads were so worn that a regular socket would not catch on them. These worked perfectly to loosen the bolts so I can replace them with new ones. These are well made. The sockets are designed to be used with a wrench or a 3/8” drive (1/4” for the 8mm). The set comes with the driver adapters for both 3/8” and 1/4” or use in an impact tool. The black coating looks to be durable and the sockets are clearly labeled and easy to read. The tools come with a lifetime warranty so I can’t go wrong.

The husky dual direction bolt/nut extractor are a very handy tool to have in your tool box. We have all ran into a bolt head or nut that is mangled or stripped out. That where this sockets come in, they have a bit design that grabs the item where ever it can and makes it some what easier to take out. The work excellent just remember to use some penetrating oil so you don't snap the bolt off since you're putting a lot of torque on them.

I received my Husky Metric dual-direction 7- piece extraction set today; this is a complete set with sizes from 8 mm to 14 mm, the set comes with a 3/8- inch and 1/4-inch drivers. You can use power tools (impact gun) or hand tools which come in handy on the larger fasteners. Simple directions are included on the back of the package. I like this style of extractors because they are durable and less prone to slip, especially when you find a size extractor you can tap on with a hammer. Overall these are very handy to have on hand not only when working on cars or trucks but also when a lag screw breaks when working with wood projects.

This Husky 7-Piece Metric Dual Direction Extraction Set looks to be great. The set includes 5 SAE sockets (8mm to 14mm), and 2 impact adapters (1/4 and ½ in.), providing for use with pliers, wrench, ratchet, breaker bar, or impact driver. The unique design of the tapered throat allows for easy placement on and removal from a fastener. It also allows for use in both directions (including left-hand threaded), a feature not seen in other extraction tools. I sometimes run into a bolt or nut that has been rounded off, making it difficult to remove. While I don’t currently have any rounded bolts or nuts to use these sockets with. I did attempt to put a good nut with sharp points in one, and it would not go in, which showed me that these sockets will grip well with one that is rounded off. These sockets will be much better than the old vise-grip way, or other methods, of removing (or reinstalling) rounded fasteners.

Husky Bolt Extraction Set - Dual Directional 7 Piece Set allows you to work with either a power or a hand tool like either or a hand wrench or an impact wrench. It comes with ¼” drive and a ⅜” drive. The sockets are made out of the good stuff Chrome Molybdenum with a black oxide coating. All that is first class. The part they could have done better is etching the numbers on the sockets rather than paint it on. So I use a sharpie and mark the socket size on the holder, problem solved. The design of the socket is smart the way you can remove a damaged bolt and re-install that damage bolt. It must be done sometimes. This will do it. There is plenty of surface to use a hand tool on the six sided sockets. The simple holder works great too. You need this before you need it.

Husky Metric Dual Direction Extraction Socket Set (7-Piece) uses a slightly tapered socket to use on damaged metric bolt ends. The walls are slightly larger on the end so when you place them on a bolt head they slip on and get traction as they are tapped down. Then use an impact drill to loosen and break the rust bond as the forces tighten with the socket. The sockets are made of Chrome Molybdenum steel and work with impact drivers or hand tools. They come in five metric sizes: 8-MM, 10-MM, 12-MM, 13-MM and, 14 MM. It includes two drive adapters, 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch sizes. No case, but it does include a plastic socket holder. I've come up against a lot of rusted or stripped bolts as a DIY mechanic. I remember using all kinds of specialty tools to get them out. This set is a big difference from an impact tool I first used that you hit with a hammer that twisted a regular socket end. It usually didn't work on the tougher rusted bolt ends. I can see how this one will since it is pushed onto the bolt end giving a tight fitting.

Husky Metric Dual Direction Extraction Socket Set This is a very well made chrome molybdenum steel extraction set. The socket sizes are clearly printed on each piece. I am very pleased with way these things work. I had a stuck bolt that came out without any issues when I used this set. The only thing I would like to see changed would be that they make a base with a spot for the drivers or I would gladly pay a bit extra to have a case or even a pouch so that all the pieces can be stored together. I know this set is going to give me years of great service and it comes with their life time warranty. So no worries there. I highly recommend this set.

The most important feature of a bolt extraction set is "grip" - while certainly longevity, ease of use, etc count for a lot, if it doesn't have a good "bite," it will be useless as a bolt extractor. In my experience, by the time you've given up trying to fit a regular wrench or socket on a stripped bolt head, it usually deformed substantially, with the top being undersized and the shoulder either normal-sized or simply out of spec. This is where the tapered inner of an extraction socket shines. I just did a simple test comparison versus my 15+ year old Lisle extractor set - could I hand-tighten it to grip a used and worn (but not badly stripped) hex bolt head? The older set, not so much - probably a result of overuse through the years. This Husky set? I had to tap it with a hammer to release the fastener. The included 3/8 and 1/4 adapters are nice, but it's a shame they don't attach to the holder. Will it hold up to impact wrench use? Well, nothing lasts forever - my suspicion is at some point this set will wear down just like my prior set. However, if I get anywhere near 15 years out of this set, they'll be a terrific bargain.

The Husky metric dual directional 7 piece bolt extractor set consists of a metric 8.10.12,13,14 extractor plus 1/4" and 3/8" drivers. I had bolts on my garage door that had been installed with an air impact tool with too much force and the bolts were rounded off. The heads would normally fit a 7/16" socket. I used the 12 metric extractor with the 3/8" driver and an impact driver to remove and replace the bolts. The extractor was easy to attach and I could have used a socket wrench. The dual directional extractor allows you to remove a damaged bolt or tighten to reinstall. The set is made of chrome molybdenum steel and has a black oxide coating and each extractor is labeled on the outside with the size. The set comes with a lifetime warranty.

The Husky Metric Dual Direction Extraction Socket Set (7-Piece) contains 5 metric extraction sockets, sizes 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, and 14mm. Also includes 2 impact adaptors for your impact gun for the 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch drive sockets. The 8mm socket needs the 1/4 inch and the rest use the 3/8 inch. This socket set is impact rated. Husky provides a lifetime warranty on this set so if it ever fails, just return the piece to Home Depot and they’ll replace it free. The meaning of “Dual Direction” is that you can use this to either remove or tighten damaged nuts/heads, so if you have to put the damaged screw or nut back on because you can’t find a replacement this tool will do it for you. This is a nice set to have should you need to remove damaged nuts or screws in these common metric sizes. These can also be used with a regular socket wrench.
