All of our current fan and light controls require separate switch leg wires to the fan motor and light kit, in addition to a ground, and cannot be used for many retrofit applications where there are only two wires + ground in the wallbox. Hello, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Maestro Fan and Light Control. This device does require both a light and fan load present to be operational. We do offer various fan-only controls in our product lines, including the Diva model DVFSQ-F. See the below link for more information:

We're sorry to hear about your experience. Lutron would recommend turning off power at the breaker panel to ensure your safety while installing our dimmer. You can verify the power to the switch is off by toggling the switch on and off. If fan/light doesn't doesn't operate in the on position, then you should be able to review the wiring in the instructions or feel free to utilize our helpful wiring wizard. Please keep in mind, the MACL-LFQ required a dimmable LED load or incandescent load in order to operate. To find a dimmable LED load, please visit www.lutron.com/LEDFinder to find a complete list of approved bulb's Lutron has tested with this fan control.

Light control is a dimmer, we assume you are controlling dimmable LEDs? Because there is no industry standard for manufacturing LEDs, not all LEDs are designed the same. We're very sorry to hear about the issue you experienced with the switch not working your light and fan independently. The MACL-LFQH-WH is designed to control a standard 3-speed ceiling fan which only uses pull-chains to adjust its speeds. A fan that has its own remote or wall control typically uses a proprietary control technology and would likely be incompatible with another manufacturer's fan speed control. We suggest you reach out to the fan manufacturer to verify if this control would be compatible with their fan.
