I was really excited about this saw. I bought one Makita from a dealer and now this one from Home Depot. Both were impossible to square because rails aren’t parallel to the blade. So I'm forced to choose between squaring either one or the other to the fence, but never both. It's a very smooth cut, but definitely not worth $630 given the squaring defect. I'm questioning whether to return this one or just cut my loses. I've wasted a lot of time setting up and trying to square both saws.

Upside - Saw came square right out of box. Really smooth operation and very stable. Really like the small footprint with big capabilities.Downside - saw is heavy. Difficult to see lugging jobsite to jobsite w/o a stand w/ rollers. Not my issue as I am retired. Previous reviews bragged @ dust collection & I am not finding that true. Hooked up to dust sucker and still much escapes to bench and saw parts.Note to Makita:. I do a lot of repetitive length cuts for cabinetry - door rails/stiles, face frames, etc. Be nice to offer a length stop feature to attach to the saw fence.End of day - I would buy this saw again.

I bought it a few days ago started using it to make my sister a cube shelf and it made the cuts so nice and clean the saw is very easy to setup and use The only con I have is the weight but it's built strong

Tried 2 of these and they were both garbage. The rails aren’t parallel to the blade. This results in cuts that are dished or crowned when sliding. Easily visible to the naked eye. Would not recommend unless you will be caulking all your miter cuts.. ok framing I suppose but not good enough for fine finishing! Total miss by Makita, normally I find their tools to be top notch but this one is NOT!

This is my new workhorse. I use it for most of my weekend work. It's so easy to cut a bevel on a 2x6. I mark the board, flip it on its edge, turn on the laser, line up the laser with my line, clamp the board in place and fire up the saw. I connected my dust collector to the exhaust hose so I can my workshop relatively clean. I like the soft start, and the motor noise isn't ear piercing.

Great saw

Makita GREATLY improved the shipping packaging, saw was perfect, box a little dinged up (for store pickup.) Bevel stop was dead square, miter was 0.75 deg off, but using the detents to help set the angle gauge made it perfect fast. Fences very nice and square, dust shoot works shockingly well.

Truly exceptional saw, well designed and functable. Love dust capture system. Required minor adjustment for trueing out of box. Also ... excellent instruction manual although .pdf version is better.

Great saw. Came perfectly aligned. Blade that comes with it cuts very well.

Was looking at a Festool - too expensive. Reviews recommended this saw as the most likely competition at less than 1/2 the price. Very heavy duty - quality machine. Dust collector seems to work better than most.

It is a really beefy saw. Has plenty of power are is very precise. It’s dust collection works well, I would give it five star but where it connects to dust collection is very short and my hose fall out quite often, might also be my hose but it’s still short

So far with a years use the saw has been amazing!

Great in almost every way but be prepared to align blade to the rails. When you find out it is misaligned ad you most certainly will by cutting from both sides of the wide board you can align it easily by loosening the two sets screws at the ends of the ends of the rails. Stick a one by four between the rails and gently twist them and re-tighten the set screws. Do a standard wide board test cut from both directions and itterate until the overlaps align. Mine was A millimeter out of alignment and I was able to bring it to within .05 mm of alignment.

It’s the quietest miter Saw I’ve used!

The Back Fence used to slide out of the way with just a quick adjustment now you have to take the whole thing off every time. It's too nice of a saw to be missing this feature. Very disappointed in that. Otherwise it's a great saw.

real nice I now have 3 makita miter saw both are around 20 years old and work great but this new saw with up front bevel controls I love it . No adjustments needed right out of box. Great saw

Perfect right out of the box! Definitely took some practice and instruction reading to understand all the features and controls. I have been a Makita saw user for over 20 years, they have never disappointed me.

I am 75 years young and still renovate high end homes. Beyond any doubt, this is the best Miter Saw I have ever owned, lets say 11 (55 years doing this type of work, 1 every 5 years). It operates like silk and I am still learning all that it can do. We do large interior trim jobs that few have ever done or seen. The saw payed for itself and more on the first job. The big bucks that the saw cost earned us about 3 times that much more than past jobs. "Just Do It" and you will never regret the investment (all the way to the Bank). A. Beever

I am not a professional contractor. I build custom furniture on the side. I wanted a smaller profile saw with a 12 inch blade for cross cutting table legs. This saw maintains accuracy but isn't very rigid. When using the slide, side pressure on the downstroke can create a rougher cut than expected. This defect can be countered by carefully avoiding side pressure. For a casual woodworker I can deal with the downsides and get the most out of the saw. I think if I was working hardcore every day it would drive me crazy. The dust collection is fantastic.

This is a well made, professional-grade saw with smooth cutting action. The soft start motor is a nice feature and it comes with a decent quality blade. My only complaint would be the non-standard fitting for the vacuum hose connection. Otherwise, best saw I've ever owned.
