I rescue guinea pig's and make my home they're final home, last resort if you will. Anyway, these these shelves are great to set up the Midwest cages on, and I am able to make two cage setups per shelving package and store supplies on a bottom shelf to keep the area organized. The shelves were/are a little frustrating to put together, but once the framing is in desired placement, the boards help keep it sturdy.

The 5/16” particle board shelves noticeably sag with less than 50 pounds. The 3-star rating is because I can’t imagine the shelves can support the advertised weight of 800 pounds each. I reinforced each shelf by installing a 4’ long x 1” square x 1/16” thick steel bar under the center of each shelf that works great. I notched out the bars on each end to slip them between the edge of the shelf and the frame underneath (see pictures). Though pricey, it's cheaper than buying better shelving.

We bought four of these as part of a project to remodel our garage. The shelves are easy to assemble and the supports are reasonably sturdy. the Crossbars supporting each shelf seemed a bit flimsy but once the shelving material was in place they prove to be just fine. We put a coat of polyurethane on the presswood shelves to protect them from spills and leakage since liquid can weaken presswood quite quickly. The shelves were true to the dimensions as advertised, 2‘ x 4‘. The presswood material seemed a bit flimsy once we started loading the shelves with heavy items such as paint cans, bags of fertilizer and so on. They have been in place for about a month and so far there have been no problems, however it remains to be seen if there will be more sagging as they get older. This option was less expensive than building custom shelves out of dimensional lumber. As long as you don’t have a lot of very heavy items to store it should work fine.

We bought these shelve for our pantry new house. I assembled them myself I about 30minutes. They are so sturdy and the solid shelves keep stuff from tilting or falling through. very pleased.

I got this unit in order to setup a few small (20 gallons amd under) fish tanks in my rooms i they wouldn’t take up furniture space, and during assembly I tested the 800lbs per shelf capacity on the bottom level and yeah. Not even close. Broke the plywood in 3 places. These shelves are not reinforced At All, even with just a minimal amount of pressure the plywood was bowing. If you’re looking to stack a few light things then this shelf is fine, but if you have anything over, say like 50lbs I’d avoid this shelf unless you’re handy and can make your own support beams. I’ll be getting husky racks from now on, and forking up the extra $$ for the plywood to go on top. That was what drew me in to this rack instead, was that I wouldn’t have to get extra plywood. I didn’t realize the shelves aren’t reinforced whatsoever.

Bought three…perfect for our old garage.

These are nice heavy duty garage shelvese. They go together pretty easy, hold a lot and are really sturdy. I got a second one after putting the first together.

Like most, I was a little scared because of the negative reviews and also the folks complaining about the 'missing couplers'. I decided to take a chance on them any way. I headed to HD to pick them up. I noticed there were a ton of boxes that were ripped up! So I moved them aside and grabbed my 3 shelves from the back, undamaged boxes. When I unboxed them at home, I was so happy to immediately find the metal couplers in the package with the included rubber feet. I assembled these myself and it was a breeze! Super easy. I basically just assembled them on the way up, starting with the bottom, just keep adding shelves, and as you go up, it firms up nicely! Im super happy with this purchase, the shelves are super strong, nice looking and deep - they hold a ton of stuff! I love them!

The older models that I bought 5 years ago were great, but this newer particle board is crap. They cut the boards too long by a half inch or so and do not fit. And I don't they hold up 800 lbs. Not sure what to do yet, waiting for a response from edsal, but if I don't hear back soon, this piece of junk is going back to home depot.

I bought 5 of these shelving units for our garage. I’ve had them for less than 1 month and the shelves (made of particle board) are sagging in the middle and are about to cave in. The pic in 2D does not do a good job of representing just how bad the sagging is. I had to pull everything off as i was worried about a collapse

I have one of these from a couple years ago that was fine. The new one I brought was awful. The varied lengths of the shelf supports made it impossible to assemble. Its a shame these are the only solid shelving units. I cant use wire grid shelves. Now I have to waste my time to return this and hopefully get a functional unit

These particle board shelves are less than 3/8", 11/32" to be exact. If I pushed a little harder could literally snap them in half with one hand, see photo. Under laboratory conditions, and optimum humidity, I'm sure these can hold 800 lbs evenly spread across them, but a few freeze thaw cycles and rainy seasons with unbalanced (even <100lb) weight to the center of the shelf and these will be sagging and falling apart like particle board always does in a damp basement. There is no way I'm trusting my 100lb Kohler engine to these things, returning it for another of the Husky brand ones. Same manufacturer but welded wire shelves.

I set mine up in the horizontal option. By myself, it was easy and took about 25 minutes. I love it.

Was a little hard to get the frame started but with a second helper it would go alot easier. Once the base was done it went togetherquickly

The item I received is different than the item displayed and different than the unit described in the instructions download from the current product page. The unit I received does not have the post couplers to hold the top & bottom sections together. it uses the middle shelf braces instead. Initially I thought they were missing, but no, when I read the documents in the package they are no longer included. Besides making the shelving more difficult to assemble, it limits shelf placement and most important, makes the unit less stable, too unstable for my needs.

Shelving unit went together pretty easily, a second hand would make it even easier. I have two major complaints, 1. I was only able to use 8 of the 10 longer shelving sections. I planned to install these horizontally as displayed on the box. However, one of the L- 48 in. Sections is only about 46-47 inches. It DOES NOT line up with the other sections. I was having trouble putting shelf together and other corners were popping out of place. Swapped it with another and thats when i noticed the difference in length. 2nd complaint is, there is no way I would trust 800 pounds per shelf. The included particle board shelving is way to flimsy. Maybe the rivets that hold the sections in place are rated for 800 pounds but i still wouldnt trust it. Would have returned and purchased the husky shelf but i already had one put together and the box was destroyed from opening everything up. Shelf will do fine for now but i do intend to upgrade

I purchased two units, love the adjustable shelves and how sturdy they are. I was able to fit all of our camping gear with room on top to put our camping chairs. This freed up a ton of space in our garage.

OVERVIEW: Even though this is meant for more industrial uses, it is the perfect shelf for my filmmaking equipment. Large, economical, and sturdy. I have used this for 5 months, and it has done everything I needed it to. ASSEMBLY: I definitely recommend having two people to put it together. It would be rather difficult - but still doable - with only one person. Having a hammer or mallet available is helpful to ensure all the parts are securely fashioned. DURABILITY: Though I have not really had the opportunity to test it's weight capacity yet, it doesn't shake at all when moving large containers on and off the shelves. I have seen some negative reviews about it's weight capacity, and I cannot really speak to that. Overall, I am happy with it's design. TIP: If you're placing delicate or light/slippery things on the shelves, stapling a layer of non-slip cabnet padding to the shelves is very useful!

I bought three of these shelves and while they work for their intended purpose they're certainly not amazing. The quality is decent for the price and they were very easy to setup. However, they're not very solid and they do wobble quite a bit, so this is something to keep in mind when purchasing. If they're tucked away in a corner of your garage you'll be fine but if they are in a high traffic area I'd consider getting something beefier. I will probably buy them again due to the fact that they work as intended, and the next best product offered by Home Depot comes with a significant increase in price.

I literally just bought this about 15 minutes ago. I put it together in less than 10 minutes. No tools needed. Everything snaps together. I really want to like this product but the package was missing on brace so I cannot use all the shelves. I have attached a picture. Bad thing is that I have no idea who to contact to get another brace. I truly would hate to have to pack this all back up and bring back to home depot. I am giving 1 star. If I can get a brace from the manufacturer I will raise start rating.

Easy to assemble and strong/sturdy.

If this product were properly designed, it would be excellent, but it has one major design flaw - The particle board shelves are only 3/8" and the lip of the shelf brackets is 1/2". If an object is pulled off the shelf, it catches the lip, causing the bracket to bow outward, which then removes all support from the middle of the shelf. This can cause the shelf to bend downward and break. I resolved this problem by modifying the product. I drilled holes in the brackets and installed tieback rods in the center of the shelf brackets to keep them from bowing outward. At the end of the day I spent $90 on the product and another $15 on materials to modify it so it would be safe and functional. The manufacturer should either redesign this product with tie rods in the middle of the long shelf brackets - it would be easier than having to perform aftermarket modifications to the product - or provide 1/2" or better yet, 5/8" shelves to keep objects from catching the lip of the bracket.

Great product with a wonderful price. I bought 2 of these for my garage. Very easy to put together and look great. I am going to buy 2 more to have a work bench in the center of the garage.

I purchased a couple of these shelves to add some quick and easy storage in my garage. They assemble very easily and are quite sturdy once all together. I may have to get a few more.

Great sturdy product ample space for my use. Follow instructions , i read but kept placing rails backwards for some reason but should be able to set up in 20ish min or less. Heavy so construct close to were being installed.
