OVERVIEW: Even though this is meant for more industrial uses, it is the perfect shelf for my filmmaking equipment. Large, economical, and sturdy. I have used this for 5 months, and it has done everything I needed it to. ASSEMBLY: I definitely recommend having two people to put it together. It would be rather difficult - but still doable - with only one person. Having a hammer or mallet available is helpful to ensure all the parts are securely fashioned. DURABILITY: Though I have not really had the opportunity to test it's weight capacity yet, it doesn't shake at all when moving large containers on and off the shelves. I have seen some negative reviews about it's weight capacity, and I cannot really speak to that. Overall, I am happy with it's design. TIP: If you're placing delicate or light/slippery things on the shelves, stapling a layer of non-slip cabnet padding to the shelves is very useful!

I bought three of these shelves and while they work for their intended purpose they're certainly not amazing. The quality is decent for the price and they were very easy to setup. However, they're not very solid and they do wobble quite a bit, so this is something to keep in mind when purchasing. If they're tucked away in a corner of your garage you'll be fine but if they are in a high traffic area I'd consider getting something beefier. I will probably buy them again due to the fact that they work as intended, and the next best product offered by Home Depot comes with a significant increase in price.

I literally just bought this about 15 minutes ago. I put it together in less than 10 minutes. No tools needed. Everything snaps together. I really want to like this product but the package was missing on brace so I cannot use all the shelves. I have attached a picture. Bad thing is that I have no idea who to contact to get another brace. I truly would hate to have to pack this all back up and bring back to home depot. I am giving 1 star. If I can get a brace from the manufacturer I will raise start rating.

Easy to assemble and strong/sturdy.

If this product were properly designed, it would be excellent, but it has one major design flaw - The particle board shelves are only 3/8" and the lip of the shelf brackets is 1/2". If an object is pulled off the shelf, it catches the lip, causing the bracket to bow outward, which then removes all support from the middle of the shelf. This can cause the shelf to bend downward and break. I resolved this problem by modifying the product. I drilled holes in the brackets and installed tieback rods in the center of the shelf brackets to keep them from bowing outward. At the end of the day I spent $90 on the product and another $15 on materials to modify it so it would be safe and functional. The manufacturer should either redesign this product with tie rods in the middle of the long shelf brackets - it would be easier than having to perform aftermarket modifications to the product - or provide 1/2" or better yet, 5/8" shelves to keep objects from catching the lip of the bracket.

Great product with a wonderful price. I bought 2 of these for my garage. Very easy to put together and look great. I am going to buy 2 more to have a work bench in the center of the garage.

I purchased a couple of these shelves to add some quick and easy storage in my garage. They assemble very easily and are quite sturdy once all together. I may have to get a few more.

Great sturdy product ample space for my use. Follow instructions , i read but kept placing rails backwards for some reason but should be able to set up in 20ish min or less. Heavy so construct close to were being installed.

We bought this shelf to fit in a space 36.25" wide. However, despite all dimensions listed on the specifications and product info, this shelf IS NOT 36" wide. In fact it's 36 1/2" wide (closer to 36 5/8 includding tabs) - A department store competitor apparently correctly advertises it as 36.63" wide. Sad that a department store is more accurate at measuring then home depot. Standard tolerance for carpentry and furniture is 1/8". Even if the actual length was pushed that to the limit it would have been fine (36 1/4"). This is false advertising if it lists "true width" as 36". Don't be fooled! And good luck getting in back in the box to return it. The box is almost flattened due to its poor construction.

Bought these to put in our new shed. Easy to put together however, I put the bottom board on and tested its strength by lightly putting my weight on it with one foot (I’m 5’3”, 135lbs for reference) and the board completely boke! BROKE! The frame seems sturdy but I really expected better for $80!

I put about 200 pounds on the shelf and the crap particle board broke and the items fell through. I have been the proud owner of this shelf for about an hour. do be ready to go spend an extra $30 on a sheet of plywood

Great deal for the money. I have put 2 together. I bought a rubber mallet to help with the second assembly and having it made the assembly much easier. Mallet was only $5. On the downside, one of the two shelving units was missing a part and I had to take one of the packages back to the store and exchange for another one. Still, I do really like the finished product.

Took about ten minutes to put together. Very sturdy.

We used this in our new pantry which my husband built. We broke it up into two units. Works really well.

I live in hot and humid VA so I don't expect the shelves will last with weight on them. HOWEVER, sanded plywood is sold in ~2x4 or 4x8 sections, so replacing them will be super easy if I ever have to. It's too bad they don't offer just the bare frame, because this is stout enough, and I'm confident it could take the weight. Tip: a deadblow hammer makes seating the brackets quick and easy without damaging or bending anything. In the photo, the bottom shelf has some camping bins (moderately heavy), but the next shelf with bins and bags above are all brimming with automotive and mechanic tools, very heavy!

I'm using this unit to build a "work station" for watercolor painting -- I'll store many of my supplies on the shelves and will use the top surface for painting when I want to be standing up to paint (more versatile than using my easel) (and it will be useful for repairing lamps, finishing picture frames, etc.). The top will be 3/4-inch cabinet-grade plywood, sanded and several coats of polyurethane. It will be easy to attach various work lights once the top is in place. I've set up the frame as two 3-foot-high units, side-by-side, and tied them together with zip ties (eventually I'll replace the white ties with black ones). Securing the top: At the top of the sides, I attached (4) crossbeams of 2x2 pine, screwed into the frames through the top holes in the uprights. To those I screwed on two old table leaves, upside-down, to which I'll screw on the 3/4-inch plywood top (the leaves have a rise at the edges, which creates a one-inch space under the top, where I can store a very large block of watercolor paper). Finished height of top will be 40 inches. This unit is very sturdy, and the black enamel finish has a nice look and is very durable. The metal frame is very easy to assemble (took me about 5 minutes). Very strong. Shelves hold a lot of weight. The unit would be improved by the addition of booties for the feet so the raw metal won't scratch wood floors. -- This unit has given me a great work station at an economical price!

They went together pretty easily. The first level is a bit tricky to get started by yourself. They are quite strong as well. I put 3 of them in my garage with varied shelf heights and am quite pleased. The only down side was the frail plastic feet that could be stronger, the shelves legs have poked through them.

Bring a rubber hammer but all is not lost if your don’t. Helped so much in my storage unit. I only needed 3 shelves so I kept the 4th as an optional shelf to add in the future.

The unit is quite strong, stable and nice looking. Overall quality is very good. Assembly was quite easy. I will be purchasing a second unit soon.

This shelf unit was easy to assemble and is strong and sturdy for my garage storage. I bought 2 of them, and both units went together well. Assembly time was about 30 minutes. The only possible drawback would be that the shelves are made of particle board. Although these boards are heavy duty and do not flex, I wonder how they would hold up under stress of heavy weight and possible exposure to moisture. The particle board shelves are coated/painted to prevent this, but there were areas of chipped and exposed corners broken off in handling in packaging. Being in the garage, I do not have such concerns but if I were to use them outdoors, exposed to the weather, then I would probably not purchase or recommend this product. Otherwise, this is a very easy to assemble and strong and sturdy product which I would recommend for interior storage.

This shelf was easy to assemble. ..you will need a rubber mallet to tap the pieces into each other....not sure if the instructions mentioned that. It works great. Bought many of various sizes which are very easy to assemble and disassemble when needed.

Great product! Easy to assemble. I use it in the garage to free up space. I have heavy duty bins on each rack. Some are extremely heavy full of DVD's and holiday novelties. I love it. I also hang other things from the extra holes as well.

I bought the 72" and 60" shelving units. After putting the larger one 3/4 of the way together, I saw that one shorter bar had 2 grommets/pins falling out of their metal mooring as per manufacturing defect. It would not support the board on that side and fell on the floor. When I examined the 60" shelving out of the box, there was 1 grommet/pin defective. One of the particle boards had a corner broken off as well. The units are re-packed [a pain to do!] and headed back to the point of purchase. Both boxes are heavy and bulky, so their movement is not easy. I'm disappointed in the quality of this shelving.

Product met all expectations. Assembly was easy and quick. Had some damaged shelves. Contacted Edsal customer service, emailed a couple of pictures along with the receipt and had replacement shelves delivered to my home in 3 days. Excellent A+ grade for Edsal customer service!

This is the exact same shelving unit that I refused for delivery earlier this year. I wasn't here when it was delivered, received, and unpacked by an intern at our office. The corners of almost all the selves are crumbling off and the box it was delivered it apparently was taped shut.
