Hello J, Thanks for writing a review and we’re sorry to have learned your issues. The wet filter is needed if you will be picking up wet debris. If you are picking up just pure liquid or water, you just need to remove the paper filter and the vacuum is already good to use. The wet squeegee is more designed on hard floor surface and not for carpet due to the rubber squeegee inside it will not move smoothly over carpets. The vacuum may be used on carpets, however it will not totally dry the carpet specially is liquid sipped to deep in the carpet, you may need to still air dry the carpet. Also, for additional reach you may purchase additional extension wand to you not to bend you back in using the vacuum. Hello Maggie, Thanks for writing a review and we’re sorry to have learned your issues. When picking up small amounts of liquid (2 - 4 inches (5 - 10 cm) of liquid in the bottom of the drum), the filter may be left in place. When picking up larger amounts of liquid (more than 4 inches (10 cm) of liquid in the bottom of the drum) we recommend that the filter be removed or use the wet foam filter VF7000. If the filter is not removed, it will become saturated and misting may appear in the exhaust. When this happens, take the filter out and let it dry before reinstalling. Note that when picking up large volumes of liquids, the liquid in the drum may reach a predetermined level and the float mechanism will rise automatically to cut-off airflow. This occurs to avoid liquids from entering the power head. When this happens, turn off the vac, unplug the power cord, and empty the drum. The screws are typically placed in the corner of the bag where casters are. We want to know more of this issue. Otherwise, you may return the vac to Home Depot store within 90 days of purchase.
