bought these for a deck gate. well under weight threshold. gate was sagging in a month. all sag was within the hinge

I bought three pairs of these thinking they would last for decades to come. All three of them now have spring issues making really loud noises and loosing tension. My conclusion is that it is just not a good design. The old school long style long spring attached to the gate is a much better long term set it and forget it solution.

This type of hinge was on my gate when originally installed. After 7 years in service, both the top and bottom hinge cracked, so I replaced them with new ones. I was happy that the exact same hinge is still made and readily available at Home Depot. This made for an easy replacement without having to drill new holes.

I only gave these hinges 4 star rating only because I feel the way they tell hoe to install them is not a good choice in my opinion. Looking at the hinge one might not think about the adjusting slot in the hinge as much as I found out about what its other than adjustment.? Rain, sprinklers water causes the inside to falter in it's spring strength. Turn these upside down this is not mentioned in the install pages You; reviewby; TGJILLIAN

Hinges are junk and lose tension quickly. I’ve had them for only a few weeks and regret the purchase.
