What hole saw size do I need
        ByMar 15, 2026

        Answer This Question

Hi! Thank you for your inquiry! You’ll typically need a 6 3/8‑inch hole saw for a standard 6‑inch canless recessed light, including most Pro Value Series models. This size provides the proper clearance for the fixture and ensures a clean, secure fit.

do the lights link together so they all work as one
            ByJan 9, 2026
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Hi! Thank you for your inquiry! They do not link together or sync as a single unified system. Each Pro Value Series 6‑inch Canless Recessed Light operates independently and is controlled only by the wall switch that powers the circuit they’re wired to.

                DO NOT BUY
DO NOT BUY. After about a year they are literally falling out of my ceiling due to the plastic clips breaking and the springs popping off. My attic is well insulated so this is not heat related. Called 'Globe Electric' (apparently that is who makes CE and got a voicemail.. hopefully they stand behind them.

                  Too thick
I would love to give this five stars. The concept is great and as long as you don’t hit a wood, it’s great! But if you hit a wood, you have extra work you have to do. Again, this is where engineers, that don’t use the product, get something important wrong. These things are three-quarter inches thick. Drywall is usually 5/8” think. Some situations 1/2”. You end up having to cut wood in an hard to cut spot. These lights need to be 1/2” thick at most. I will most likely stop using this brand and find a different slimmer one.

                    Too Thick!!!!
Why are these lights being sold? These lights are nearly 3/4 inch thick and will not sit flush if you have a joist behind them. My electrician even said he has installed hundreds of these canless lights and never seen them thicker than 1/2 inch. We did not notice this until all of the junction boxes were wired in. Now, to return the box of 12 of these I bought, we have to remove all of the junction boxes. Next time I go to home depot, I am opening the box, taking the !@#$ light out of the box, walk over to the hardware department and measure these thins first. My last set of commercial electric lights were only 1/2 inch thick and had no issues. If it sounds like I am rambling, it's because I am furious and cannot write the actual words I would like to.

Hi! I am sorry to hear that they were not the right product for your installation. It is one of our most popular model of recessed lights.

                      Too thick
These lights are around 3/4” thick. The Halo brand is thin enough to fit under a joist. I won’t buy these again.

DO NOT BUY. KNOCKOUTS ARE JUNK
Knockouts are junk! The box gets destroyed before you can remove the knockouts.

                          Look nice, but cheaply made
These lights look nice and function well once installed. However, the junction box for each light are junk. I have been doing electrical work for many years and I've never seen such poorly made junction boxes. The foam seals on the lights are also garbage. The seals are so twisted and mangled in the box that it's impossible to get them to sit flat between the light and mounting surface. If you just want really cheap lighting, these will work.

Thicker than 1/2”! Doesn’t work in drywall ceiling
Puck lights have gained popularity because you can put them wherever you want in a drywall ceiling, even if a joist is directly over the area. These lights are 3/4” thick, so if you use 1/2” drywall, and there is a joist overhead this light will stick down 1/4”. Of course you don’t find this out until a hole is cut in your drywall. These lights are basically useless unless you pick areas without joists.
