I have a bunch of used motor oil i need to transport to auto zone for recycling. I currently have it in 5 gal buckets that have some broken lids. Could I use the standard HD 5 gal bucket with this lid to transfer the oil?
Hi AWilkie, It is not recommended to store or transport gasoline in plastic buckets. There is a possibility of vapor pressure for any lid that has a tight fit. If your lids are not a tight fit, you should worry about the gas sloshing over the top or spills if you have any kind of accident or have to swerve on your way to Auto Zone. You also need to be concerned with the build up of static electricity which can happen with a 5-gallon bucket. Gasoline should always be transported in approved gas cans.
I see the diameter of bucket is listed, but WHAT IS THE HEIGHT of the bucket; that is an essential bit of info to put in the SPECS section
Hi Kris10 - The 5-gallon buckets are 14.5" tall. I do not have control over the specs that Home Depot displayed but I can put it in the details section. Thank you for the feedback.
Does the lid have a punch out to attach the pour spout you sell?
Hello Helen, No, these lids do not have a bung hole on the top of the lid. Your question has reached the manufacturer of the lids. We do not make the pour spouts nor do we, at this time, sell lids with a hole to Home Depot. A couple of answers on homedepot.com indicate other brands of buckets that have the bung hole.
Are these food grade
HI Karen, No, we do not consider the the orange Homer bucket to be food safe. Currently the only food safe bucket we have at Home Depot (search Item# 300197644) is a 5-gallon white bucket. If a bucket is food safe, it will appear explicitly on a sticker with the label. IPL Leaktite's food safe buckets have a sticker with a spoon, fork, and knife with the words "Manufactured Using Food Safe Resin."

So once you break the plastic ring it will no longer seal tight?
Hi Paint - Correct, you can still use it as a lid but it will not have the same seal.
Does the Ryobi ONE+ bucket top fan fit on top of the 2 gallon bucket?
Hi Murray, I'm going to say not without some improvisation. A 5GL bucket diameter is 11.872" and a 2GL bucket is 9.25". From the online photo, the Ryobi ONE+ looks to fit snuggly on the rim. A 3.5GL bucket has the same diameter as a 5GL if you're looking for something shorter.
