Yes, the ball caps come off the top of the posts. It would be hard to spray paint it on top of the powder coat may be more acceptable to peel. Would want to strip it and clean it and use acrylic paint.

For automating this gate with a Mighty Mule Gate Opener, we recommended gate opener model MM462. The Mighty Mule MM462 Includes: 2 single button access remotes (model # FM135), AC transformer (model # RB570), 12-Volt 7 Amp-hour battery (model # FM150), control box, all required hardware and a detailed installation manual with an interactive DVD. i've ordered st augustine, 12 ft, double gates. what's the maximum drive through gap between the gates when the gates are hung on the metal posts?
Hello houston59, Thank you for taking the time to post your question. The standard drive through width on an installed St. Augustine dual 12 ft. gate is 11' 4''. The gates are able to swing to a open position of 90 degrees. Depending on your installation conditions, they gate can swing open to slightly more than 90 degrees, To make the gate post installation as easy as possible dig the holes approximately 12” wide, 20” long (the elongated side should run parallel to the driveway). Do not make holes perfectly round to help prevent posts from twisting after time. Depth of the hole will depend on whether the ground is level or sloped. Hello Kent, The 144 inch dimension shown on the gate specifications sheet is the inside post to inside post dimension.This 144 inch dimension includes a 2 inch gap between the gate leafs upon installation. The 136 inch dimension would be when the gate is in the fully opened position. Thank you,
