White Food Grinder and Fruit/Vegetable Strainer Attachment for KitchenAid Stand Mixer

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I studied and researched this attachment and ordered. Tried it right away and it works like a dream. No more having to blanch tomatoes to remove skin and seeds. I see so many batches of Passat in my future ! I will be going squash too for soups !!!

I’ve used this attachment for soft foods such as cooked pumpkin and it worked great. However, today while running cooked blackberries through to make jelly, the auger/worm gear stopped up rather than sending the seeds out the end. The mixer slowed and sounded as if it was encountering a severe load but before I could turn it off, a rather loud “pop“ occurred and hot blackberry juice and pulp sprayed the surroundings. After disassembling I found the strainer had snapped loose from its retaining ring. Unsure if this is an anomaly or design flaw.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this last year pre-harvest season and was very impressed on how it could handle tomatoes, pears and apples. Pears and apples need to be blanched to soften them up a bit but they go right through. With 5 gallons of fruit, I end up with only about 3-4 cups of waste. Probably 5 times more efficient than anything else I've used, and completed in 1/4 of the time. Granted I send the fruit through the processor 3 times to get as much juice and solids out of fruit as possible. With this I've done ~60 quarts of pear sauce, 50 quarts of apple sauce and at least 300 quarts of tomato based sauce's and soups. Unfortunately today the shaft broke in half and now I'm stuck with my last 9 gallons of pears to process and needing to wait a couple days for a new shaft. Note I gave the design a 3 rather than lower because I don't know the duty cycles the parts were engineered towards and I probably exceeded them. As an engineer I know the balance of designing parts as robust as possible, for the 99 percentile user, while management tries to reduce cost and reducing the robustness to say the 90 percentile user.

I've had this vegetable strainer for 2 weeks. I couldn't be happier. I processed about 65 pounds of tomatoes so far & I have not had one single glitch. It is a little unjust that KitchenAid makes you buy the meat grinder unit as well....all in all I'm just glad that I'm not using my hand crank food mill. Everything is super easy to clean, store and even put together. Oh, and my 7 year old is a big fan too.

These attachments for my Kitchenaid mixer were easy to assemble and worked perfectly.

Works as stated, although cleanup took a while.

Very happy with this produce. Makes doing tomatoes so easy and quick. No need to heat and peel takes seeds out also.

Fits great, works wonderful, just like expected. Would recommend.

I bought this to replace my old one. This one had the new upgraded shaft that has an O-ring on it, unlike my old one. This prevents the liquids from running back into the mixer. The new unit worked very well.

I have used this for the past 10 years to make tomato sauce. it does a great job of removing the seeds & skin. However, two parts have chips in them and you can't just replace it you have to buy the whole thing again. Also, when running for hours, its very noisy.
