Garage Door Openers

Garage door openers bring a level of convenience and security to your home. Whether you’re looking for quiet garage door openers, smart garage door openers or side-mount garage door openers, there are many options and features available.

Garage Door Opener Considerations

There are four types of garage door openers to choose from:

Chain-drive garage openers are a durable and reliable option suitable for standard aluminum doors, but they’re not as quiet as other options and can require periodic maintenance.
Belt-drive garage door openers are ideal if you have a bedroom or living area adjacent to your garage. They deliver a smooth, quiet operation with fewer parts, which means less upkeep.
Screw-drive garage openers are perfect for heavy, wide doors. These units also provide minimal maintenance and a quieter operation than chain-drive models.
Direct-drive garage door openers generate little noise or vibration and require minimal upkeep, just like belt-drive models.

Horsepower is another key factor when it comes to garage door openers. Look into ½ horsepower garage openers if you have standard aluminum doors. Oversized doors and one-piece doors may require 3/4, 1 or 1¼ horsepower garage door openers. Garage openers with higher horsepower use less effort to operate and minimize wear and tear on the motor. This is ideal if your garage doors act as the main entrance to your home.

Garage Door Opener Features

Continue your high-tech lifestyle and opt for smart garage door openers. These Wi-Fi enabled systems allow you to monitor and operate your openers from your phone, so you’ll always know whether your doors are closed or open.

Search for units boasting rolling code security technology, which protects against hacking from burglars by generating a new code any time remotes or garage door opener keypads are used.

Check to see if your garage door opener offers a battery backup, so you can easily access your garage if your home loses power.

All systems come with remote garage door openers, but if you need to replace a broken or lost remote, universal garage door openers are easy to set up and control.
