How much tape do I actually need for what I usually do?

The amount of tape you need depends on room size, tape width, and project type. For painting a room, measure the linear footage of edges you need to tape, and select either a standard tape width for trim, walls, and ceilings, or a wider tape for more coverage at a slightly higher cost. Expect to use two to three rolls to repaint a bedroom, one roll to paint an accent wall or stripes, and five to six rolls to paint multiple rooms. I don't want to buy too much tape. What's a good starting amount for general use?

Select a high-quality painter's tape designed for clean lines. Use a level or laser level to create straight lines, mark them with a pencil, and apply the tape.
