When you're ready to start your next DIY project with confidence, you want the best tools for the job. In many cases, The Home Depot Tool and Truck Rental Center can help you fill in the gaps in your toolbox and garage. We're known for high-quality moving truck, power saw, and tool rentals.
Tool Rental
Start your DIY project with confidence and the right tools for the job. Let our Tool Rental Center in Encinitas expand your tool belt with the items you don't have on hand. Rent the tools you need and return them when the job is finished. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted in comparison to the new items in our aisles.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to blow away leaves. Fall will be in full swing soon, so have a leaf blower ready to go. It's much easier than raking them into piles. It's also easier on driveways, hardscaping surfaces, and concrete sidewalks. Choose from walk-behind, handheld, or backpack leaf blowers.
Insulation
To make your home more energy efficient, upgrade your insulation. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to install it the right way. Choose from a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated with ease. Installing insulation keeps your home warmer in cool weather and cooler in the heat, all while tempering your energy bills.
Heaters
If you don't like working or being outside in the cold, browse our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep outdoor events, barns, or workspaces warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because portable heaters don't have an open flame, and they also blow the hot air for more coverage. We carry propane, gas, and electric heaters in various sizes. Pair this with good outdoor lighting and a jacket, and you can extend work or play well into the evening with the extra warmth.
Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep cargo vans and trucks of all kinds on hand, with availability varying by store. Choose the right size for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for storage, packing, and DIY, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.

How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like to know what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. You may also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your local store. For more information on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.
How long can I rent tools?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a short rental period, and bigger jobs aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off any residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. You'll likely not get a sharp blade when you rent, as most people won't leave one on there when they return it. However, you may luck out and receive an excellent one. Since there's no guarantee, it's better to buy a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the truck, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
