Recycling at Home Depot

Did you know?
This store helps divert waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
This store recycles all shrink wrap, contributing to the 780 million pounds that The Home Depot sold to Trex last year. This is used to manufacture composite decking, bringing us one step closer to a circular economy.
LED lights in your local store helped save on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours last year. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn More.

How do I stop cold air from coming in at the bottom of the door?
If you have cold air seeping in under the door, check your door sweep, the rubber piece on the bottom of the door, for cracks and missing pieces. Replace it if it's torn or otherwise damaged. When a house settles unevenly, pieces that once fit snugly can go off-kilter. Gaps can form around the sides of doors or the thresholds may loosen with time. Fill the space with weather stripping or foam tape, and caulk any cracks in the wooden door frame. If you're still feeling drafts around the door, place an insulated fabric door snake along the ground.
What are good wintertime DIY projects?
When the temperatures drop outside, it's challenging to work out in the elements. However, a chilly day that's above freezing might be a good time to rake leaves or give the mulch in the garden a stir. A weekend organizing and cleaning the basement, shed, or garage will pay off when the weather warms. If your tools and gardening supplies are all set, tackle cleaning the rest of the house. Get out the cleaning supplies and cleaning tools, then give everything a good scrub.
How do I prepare for snow and freezing temps?
When you live in a location where snow falls, it's a good idea to organize or upgrade your snow removal tool kit before a winter storm hits. Have a gas can ready to top off your gas snowblower if it's not already filled for the season, or check the battery on your electric snowblower. Remember to get out the sleds for the kids, and prep salt or ice melt and a salt spreader. Ensure your outdoor taps are covered and drained, too, with all garden hoses disconnected. Doing this basic prep will help keep you ready for whatever winter weather brings.
Are Kids Workshops offered at the St Croix Home Depot?
Yes, the St Croix store does offer in-person Kids Workshops. These free in-store events take place every first Saturday of the month between 9am–noon. Registration for kids workshops is now available online and secures your spot at the event. Each month features a unique and exciting new kit pack to keep little doers engaged. Kits include all necessary craft materials, kit instructions, certificate of achievement, stickers, an apron pin, and a Discovery Education extension activity. Any required tools, such as paint, are provided at the workshop. Customers who prefer not to participate in the in-person event can pick up their free kit in-store or order online at our Kids Projects Activities page to have it shipped to their home. Visit our customer service counter or call us to check availability.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are an excellent present for birthdays, housewarming parties, and the holidays. DIYers know they're fun to give and to receive. You can buy gift cards online at homedepot.com or in our brick-and-mortar stores. If you receive a gift card, you can check your gift card balance online or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Redeem our gift cards in-store or use them to shop online with no additional fees.

Poor experience almost everything I visit!
I went to the Home Depot store, two weeks ago to purchase some lumber and the experience at the store was horrible. I spent almost 3 hours at the store, and it was a very difficult to get anyone in that area to assist us, in picking up all the material that I needed. I left very upset disappointed. Even a male supervisor came by and he was very unprofessional!
Glad HD is here, but consistently disappointing
Very common that stock is not available, even if website says it is. Common to have 5-7 employees chatting, but unwilling to acknowledge you or help. If you ask, you will be dismissed 9/10 times, or told to go ask someone else, somewhere else. It’s really that bad.
        Great experience
Every time I meet with Berthalina she is always so welcoming. I love each and every quick visit.

          Great Products and Benefits
I always shop at the Home Depot because of the availability of products in addition to the wide range of service benefits! In my opinion, there is no other store that I love more than the Home Depot!

                Home away from home
I’m a carpenter and your tools and supplies are top notch

                  Support services
Typical Home Depot store. The Kitchen and Bath design is second to none. I would have given them 5 stars, but the delivery service is the worse I have ever seen. This is a company that is a Home Depot contractor. I would use my pickup and delivery people.
