We appreciate your interest, Paul. Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint is suitable for use on metal surfaces only. This paint will not properly adhere to other surface types, and it is not suitable for use inside a fireplace. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3
Happy to help, Adam! Rust-Oleum High Heat Spray Paint is designed to protect metal surfaces exposed to elevated temperatures, such as grills, wood stoves, radiators, and other heat-producing equipment. However, we do not recommend it for stove drip trays, as they can be exposed to direct flame contact and cooking residues, conditions for which the coating is not intended. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 16
Great question, Phyllis! Rust-Oleum High Heat Spray Paint is not recommended for use on an in-home kitchen stove. This product is not suitable for use on the cooktop due to direct exposure to a heat source and the product having a flat finish. Residential stove exteriors also typically do not reach temperatures high enough to require a high-heat coating. For refinishing the exterior of an appliance, we recommend Rust-Oleum Appliance Epoxy instead. We do not offer a product that is suitable for the interior of a stove. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-12-oz-Appliance-Epoxy-Gloss-White-Spray-Paint-7881830/202056394 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 16
Happy to clear things up, Wren. While Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint can withstand temperatures up to 1200°F it is not suitable for use inside a microwave. We do not offer any product for this type of application. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14
Thanks for the question, Rachel! Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint is not recommended for the cooktop surface of an RV stove, as it was not designed or tested for that type of application. This coating does require curing with heat to achieve its full durability and temperature resistance. — Rust-Oleum Product Support 15
Thanks for the question! Yes, Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint can be used on the exterior of metal fire pits. It is designed to protect metal surfaces exposed to temperatures up to 1200°F. Be sure to properly clean and prepare the surface before painting, and do not apply the coating to areas that will be in direct contact with open flames. — Rust-Oleum Product Support 15
Kim, we appreciate the question! While Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint will dry without the 450°F heat cure, heat curing is required for applications that will be exposed to temperatures above 500°F. If used on a fire pit without prior heat curing, the first high-temperature use may act as the curing cycle and may produce some smoke and odor. Proper heat curing helps maximize the coating's durability, adhesion, and overall performance. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 10
Great question, Cathy! Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint is intended for use on metal surfaces that will be exposed to high indirect heat, like the exterior of a grill or fire pit. If the surface does not reach temperatures well above 200 °F, then the coating will not properly cure. We also do not recommend this for use on surfaces that will have direct contact with food or an open flame. If the surface stays below 200°F, then you may consider using a regular spray paint product. — Rust-Oleum Product Support 15
