Use the Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader to apply fertilizer, grass seed, and other lawn care products. This lawn spreader comes pre-calibrated and ready-to-use, and holds up to 15,000 sq. ft. of Scotts product. When EdgeGuard is engaged, it will block off the right-side of the spreader pattern to prevent product from spreading onto non-lawn areas. Using the Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader is simple. To begin, turn rate control dial to the correct setting listed on the back of each Scotts product, pour the product in the hopper, then start spreading. The spreader's design enhancements feature a curved hopper and dual-bladed agitator for smooth product funneling and consistent coverage. Spreaders provide uniform coverage of granular products; without one, you may end up with uneven coverage of fertilizer or control products that can result in uneven feeding, weed, disease, or insect control. Scotts spreaders can also be used to distribute salt on walkways and driveways.

Since rock salt is pretty heavy, we recommend not filling the hopper all the way up. Also, keep in mind that rock salt can be a bit rough on metal parts, so a good cleaning after each use is a must. As for the spreader settings, aim for 8-10, but keep in mind that it might vary a bit depending on the size of the salt you're using. Happy spreading!

Please check that the rotor, gearbox, or agitator are not bent or damaged. If you find that any parts are damaged, this can cause product to collect on the inside of the wheels causing streaks in your lawn. We may have replacement parts available. .

If the clumps are not easily broken we do not recommend applying the product as it may clog the spreader. If you have been noticing product building up in the wheels, check that the axle and rotor plate are not bent or broken.
