Yes, it’s appropriate for 30amps
Yes, but it should be stripped (sheathing removed) inside the conduit itself.
Yes, this is 3 conductor wire plus a ground. The romex will have a black, red, and white wire as well as a bare copper wire for grounding. This should work for your application.
No this Romex is meant to serve a 115V circuit with with a hot, neutral and ground. Your electric dryer connection is 240V and has two hots (red and black) and the neutral which serves as a ground. NOT THE SAME AT ALL
This is 10-3. BLK&RED for 220V line, WHT=neutral, GRN=ground. Volts don't determine the wire size, it's the amps and length that do. That's a pretty long run. I'd think a naval ship would = conduit, which would be indiv. wires, not this romex.
Hello Bill. Thank you for shopping at The Home Depot. No, this Romex is sold by the roll in our electrical department of the Home Depot. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC
No! unless you're in a situation you can break the rules (very unlikely). 10 awg is 30amp max, 8 gauge is 40amp you need 8awg. Putting a 40 amp breaker on this 30amp wire means the wire can catch fire before the breaker trips and illegal/dangerous.
We'd be happy to help! Please contact us at CableTechSupport@southwire.com for assistance.
Southwire® Romex® Brand SIMpull® NM-B (nonmetallic-sheathed) cable may be used for both exposed and concealed work in normally dry locations at temperatures not to exceed 90°C (with ampacity limited to that for 60°C conductors) as specified in the National Electrical Code.
