The 80-pound poly hopper is rust and weather resistant. With a rugged powder-coated steel frame, solid steel linkage, T-shaped handle with rubber hand grips, full gate control and aggressive toothed auger, he 82088B is the full package. It also comes with a rain/snow cover to protect the product during snowy or rainy weather. Adjust the front and side baffles so you're not spreading product where it's not needed. Tough 12-inch pneumatic tires handle uneven winter ground. This unit is not recommended for use with salt products, sand or sand mixes, pelletized lime, lime or lime powders. Will this spread the same way when pulling it instead of pushing? My plan is to have my son sit in the back of my van and hold onto this while I drive down our long driveway.
The disk that spreads the material is geared to the wheels, so if the spreader goes backwards the disk spins in the opposite direction. That said, it will still spread and likely will feed ok when run backwards. A word of advice - when this spreader is used for de-icing, it needs to be cleaned and lubricated frequently. The exposed metal parts are plain steel and every part that gets wet or salt exposed will rust, corrode, and seize up. Failure to remove salt residue and lubricate the moving parts every few days will lead to a spreader that will no longer work. (From experience!)

Are the tires air filled or plastic?
Tires are pneumatic, filled with air. More importantly, we have found that you need to thoroughly clean and lubricate the mechanism or it will bind up from the salt.
