Why does the unit keep tripping the brecker
BySep 7, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hello, Calvin! Thank you for sharing your question with us about the LG Window Air Conditioner (LW2422IVSM). If your LG Window Air Conditioner (LW2422IVSM) keeps tripping the breaker, it usually points to an electrical load or wiring issue rather than the unit itself. Here are the most common causes: • Breaker capacity mismatch — The unit requires a dedicated circuit with the correct amperage (often 15–20 amps depending on installation). If the breaker is undersized, it will trip. • Loose or faulty wiring — Poor connections or damaged wires can cause overheating and breaker trips. • Overloaded circuit — If other appliances share the same circuit, the combined load may exceed the breaker’s rating. • Compressor startup surge — Air conditioners draw extra current when the compressor kicks on; a weak breaker may not handle the surge. • Dirty filter or coil — Restricted airflow forces the compressor to work harder, increasing electrical demand. • First step: verify the breaker size, this model typically requires a dedicated 15‑amp circuit. If you’re unsure, We recommend contacting a licensed electrician to confirm wiring and breaker compatibility. AC isn't a month old a stopped working. What do I do
      ByAug 29, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Hello, Riderbill! Thank you for sharing your question with us about the LG Window Air-Conditioner (LW2422IVSM). We appreciate you sharing that your unit stopped working after less than a month of use. We always want you to feel confident about your product’s reliability, and we’re here to guide you. Here are the few factors to consider: • Restricted airflow. • Incorrect settings. • Dirty coils. Making sure the filter is clean, setting the unit to Cool with High Fan, and confirming that nothing is blocking the intake or front louvers helps the fan circulate air at its full CFM. Using Dry Mode briefly before cooling can also reduce humidity, which makes the room feel cooler faster. For more information, you can refer on this link "LG Air Conditioner - Troubleshooting Poor Cooling": https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/troubleshooting-an-lg-air-conditioner-that-is-not-cooling--20152825310030. Thank you for sharing your question with us about the LG Window Air Conditioner (LW1222IVSM), The LG Window Air Conditioner (LW1222IVSM) has a rated cooling current draw of 10.8 Amps when operating on a 115V / 60Hz supply with a 15‑amp plug type. can I place a LG Model No. LW10221 VSM window air conditioner in the existing wall hole for my old LG Model No. LWHD 1009R air conditioner?
          ByAug 22, 2026
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Hello, James! Thank you for sharing your question with us about the LG Window Air-Conditioner (LW1022IVSM). Yes — both models LG Window Air-Conditioner (LW1022IVSM) and (LWHD1009R) share installation requirements for standard double‑hung windows. The actual opening width must be between 22" and 36", and the top and bottom sashes need to open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 13" from the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill. Meeting these dimensions ensures proper fit and airflow for safe operation. For proper installation and to ensure the unit performs safely and efficiently, we recommend having a licensed technician handle the setup. Home Depot only gives you 48 hours to return then it goes to LG‘s warranty department which does nothing to help you but a $800 window unit worked one month been dealing with LG for two weeks and no response I’ll give it zero ratings and Home Depot for a 48 hour return where most people give you 90 days is a rip off speaking from experience.

Great cooling and incredibly quiet — but rusting after three weeks is unacceptable
This LG window air conditioner does an excellent job keeping the room cold, and it is remarkably quiet. Unfortunately, the build quality is another story. After only three weeks of use, the entire inside of the unit began rusting. The rust is now dripping out of the air conditioner and has stained the side of my house. That is completely unacceptable for a brand-new appliance. I even removed the rubber drain stopper before installing it specifically because I wanted to prevent water from collecting inside the unit and causing rust. Despite taking that precaution, the interior still rusted badly within just three weeks. It’s especially frustrating because the air conditioner itself performs very well. It gets the room cold quickly and is much quieter than I expected. But none of that matters if the unit starts rusting almost immediately and ends up causing damage to my house. An air conditioner should last for years, not start rusting and staining the exterior of your home after three weeks. Very disappointed with the quality of this LG unit.

I put this A/C in a bedroom that is about 550 square feet. Installation wasn't too bad. The unit weighs a lot but it has a sleeve where you can remove the inner part of the ac for easier installation. Definately cools the room down very quickly and is very efficient, not using much electricity. I also installed the app on my phone. The app works very well and can turn the ac on off and adjust settings from my phone. The only negative thing is the remote does not light up so its difficult to adjust settings in low light. Although once you use it enough, you will know which buttons to press even in the dark. I would recommend this AC window unit.

DO NOT BUY! Poor Customer Service!
When this unit was first powered up there was a loud noise. It sounded like the fan inside was hitting something. I opened a service call on their website and the technician was here the next day. He took the unit apart and found that the fan shroud near the condenser was broken. A part of the shroud about 4 to 5 inches long was sitting at the bottom and being hit by the fan. He returned two days later to replace the shroud and the fan. Once he had the shroud removed, the damage to the condenser was apparent. He said that he was going to document the additional damage. We both took pictures. Since then I have opened two separate escalation cases with LG. They didn't contact me in either case and just closed them with no communications. This is a brand new AC unit and now I have to live with a damage condenser.

Great unit, some home specific mounting issues.
Just installed today. It’s my first window AC, so I don’t know if this was my own negligence, but I did not know I’d run into issues not having any exterior window sill. My windows are flush on my house. So I could not use the provided brackets to support the weight on the outdoor portion of the unit. I ended up drilling some larger screws through the provided holes on the interior of the shell and into the top of some 2x4s I cut to be the appropriate height to bare the weight of the unit on the exterior on my deck. I feel like it just should’ve been mentioned or had some considerations in the description for first time buyers like myself. Aside from that though, the functionality of it is great. Very cold air on a 92 degree day. Noticeable difference in my living room in a home with no central air/HVAC. I can barely hear it at all with the TV on at a low volume. The remote is very convenient. And the unit appears very well made. Especially on sale, it was a great deal. Also, I was able to install it myself with the extras as a 200 pound male. But do mind you the unit weighs 100 pounds. If you’re on the edge, I’d say buy it for sure. If you have windows that are flush with no window sill, you’ll need some additions.
