What if the cutout depth is 21” from the front to the back
Hi Kashif, We are glad to answer your question about this Samsung cooktop model. The 21-inch cutout would leave a gap at the back of the cooktop, which could result in the cooktop not having enough surface to sit securely on the countertop. The cooktop might slide or not be supported correctly. To prevent this from happening, you’d want to stick as close as possible to the recommended minimum cutout size of 19 5/8 inches. Are the temperature indicators (high, med, low, etc) 'painted' on the surface? That may not be the right term. We have a cooktop that had 'painted' temperature indicators, and after a few times cleaning the indicators were gone. Does that make sense?

Ricardo evidently doesn't know the term "drop in" as opposed to "slide in" or "freestanding". YES, this is a drop in cooktop. Cut your hole per specs in the installation instructions and the cooktop is dropped (gently) into the hole and secured.
