The Parawedge anchor stud is cold formed and consists of a threaded section with standard coarse bolt threads at one end, and a parabolic mandrel at the opposite end for a smoother expansion. It has a 360° one-piece clip that functions as a two-piece clip for more contact, a torque controlled expansion, and can be installed into a bottomless hole. Three head styles are available: Hex Nut, Wire Hanger and Tie Down Hook. More than 39 sizes are available, in two types of material: Carbon steel and 304 Stainless steel. Approvals: UL.. Underwriters Laboratory - File #EX 4687

Dear Customer, Thank you for reaching out regarding the 3/8 in. x 5 in. Parawedge™ Wedge Anchors. Yes, you may drill an oversized clearance hole through the decorative bluestone top layer, provided that the hole drilled into the structural concrete underneath is the exact required size. Here is the step-by-step technical guidance for a safe installation: 1. Bluestone Top Layer (Clearance Hole): Drilling an oversized clearance hole (such as 7/16 in. or 1/2 in.) through the bluestone layer only is recommended to allow the bolt to pass through without cracking or binding against the brittle stone. 2. Structural Concrete Base (EXACT 3/8 in. Hole Required): Do NOT oversize the hole in the underlying concrete. The hole in the solid concrete slab MUST be drilled using an exact 3/8 in. carbide-tipped masonry bit (ANSI B212.15 compliant). Critical Safety Note: Wedge anchors rely on direct mechanical contact between the anchor's expansion clip and the internal concrete wall. If the hole in the concrete is oversized, the expansion clip cannot bite into the concrete, the expansion mechanism will fail to activate, and the anchor will not hold any load. Installation Steps: • Step 1: Drill the oversized clearance hole through the bluestone layer only. • Step 2: Switch to an exact 3/8 in. masonry bit to drill into the structural concrete base (drill at least 1/4" deeper than the anchor embedment depth). • Step 3: Thoroughly blow out all concrete dust from the hole using compressed air. • Step 4: Insert the anchor so the expansion clip sits fully inside the 3/8 in. concrete hole (minimum 2 in. embedment into solid concrete). • Step 5: Tighten the nut with a wrench (3 to 5 full turns or to 30 ft-lbs torque) to pull the wedge mandrel up and permanently set the expansion clip against the concrete. Dear Customer, Thank you for your question regarding the Parawedge™ 3/8 in. x 3 in. Wedge Anchor (1-Pack) (SKU 496N). Regarding your inquiry about the required wrench size for installation, we have the following technical recommendation: - Required Wrench Size: While our technical sheets do not explicitly list the wrench size, the 3/8" Parawedge™ anchor is manufactured with standard 3/8" coarse bolt threads. Under standard hardware specifications, a standard 3/8" hex nut has a width across flats of 9/16 inch. Therefore, you will need a 9/16" wrench or socket to tighten the nut. - Drill Bit Size: For wedge anchors, the hole size matches the anchor diameter exactly. You must use a 3/8" carbide-tipped masonry drill bit that strictly meets the ANSI B212.15 standard. - Setting Torque: After drilling, cleaning the hole of concrete dust, and driving the anchor in, tighten the nut with a wrench. To properly set the expansion clip, we recommend tightening the nut to an installation torque of 30 ft-lb (41 Nm) or turning the nut 3 to 4 full turns past the hand-tight position. Safety Warning: Always wear safety goggles when drilling or installing these structural fasteners. Best regards, Technical Support Team Cobra Anchors Co. Ltd.
Dear Customer, Thank you for your inquiry. Installation of the Parawedge™ into wet or “green” concrete is not recommended. The Parawedge™ is a mechanical expansion anchor that relies on the compressive strength of the concrete to achieve its rated holding power. Our technical specifications require the concrete substrate to have a minimum curing time of 28 days before installation. Installing the anchor before the concrete has fully cured can significantly reduce its strength and safety, as the expansion clip may not properly grip the softer, uncured concrete. For optimal performance and safety, we recommend waiting until the concrete has completed the full 28-day curing period before installing the Parawedge™. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Best regards,

Hello Jose, thanks for your question! If the Parawedge™ is 3/8 in. x 3 in., so the required drill bit for the diameter is 3/8 inch, and the length is 3-1/4 inches. Please don’t hesitate to consult us if you have any other questions. We invite you to consult our website www.cobraanchors.com where you will find all the technical specifications, video and installation guide.
