These fittings are for just that purpose. If you scroll down the Home Depot product listing page, you will come to a section entitled Product Details. If you expand that section, you will find PDFs of the product documents. The brochure further outlines the capabilities of these fittings.
No. I would consider these more of a one-shot deal to connect refrigeration lines rather than brazing.
I honestly don’t know. But I wouldn’t recommend it. Not for any great reason I can think of but more for reasons I may not be able to think of. I guess my question would be why would you want to? These connectors are designed to handle hundreds of pounds of gas pressure whereas hydronic systems work at 15 PSI of water pressure. They are intended for a very different application. Also, hydronics is considered plumbing so the pipe is referred to by its ID inside diameter. These fittings are intended for the HVAC industry that refers to tube by its OD outside diameter. What a plumber calls ¾ copper an HVAC technician would refer to as 7/8”. Therefore, I would think sizing would be an issue. Given the temperature swings in a closed loop hydronic heating system I would be partial to solder or press connections. Or PEX with an oxygen barrier if the situation lends itself.
I apologize for the delay you asked your question months ago yet it only popped up in my answer que today. As to the question, Yes that I its purpose. It can be used on new or existing installations instead of brazing.
Yes. However I want to point out that this product is meant as a permanent connection for refrigerant lines. It is not intended to act as disconnect to be used all the time. Also it is intended for refrigerant lines that are under very high pressures. My point is that there may be better and less expensive alternatives.
I apologize for the delay you asked your question months ago yet it only popped up in my answer que today. I don’t see why it would not if the tube size and material is correct.
