How long does it usually take for the “dust” to settle for pets? This is very vague.
Once Ortho Fire Ant Mound Blitz has settled onto the treated area and is no longer in the air, it will be safe for people and pets to be back in the area. If you are not sure how long it will take for dust to settle, wait 2 hours before re-entering that area.
How long is this harmful to pets? When can I let my dog in the yard with the treated area?
After applying Ortho Fire Ant Mound Blitz, we suggest to keep non-grazing pets such as cats and dogs out of treated area until any dust has settled.

Apply Ortho Fire Ant Mound Blitz to the lawn in the morning or evening when fire ants are active. Do not apply during heavy dew or just before a rain. Treat new mounds as they appear. Controlling fire ants can be a challenge. It is best to take a two-pronged approach. In addition to treating individual mounds with Ortho Fire Ant Mound Blitz, also make a broadcast application to your lawn of Ortho Fire Ant Killer Broadcast Granules. By using both the mound and broadcast treatments, you will reduce the potential for new mounds to develop and therefore have better success in controlling fire ants.
