Q:Hi, please advice if this galvanize conduit is suitable for raised foundation or is PVC a better choice and are they both up to code?
by|Jan 29, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  You will want to check with your local codes office on the approved electrical raceway methods for this application. Electrical Steel Conduit is UL approved as indoor application as it will corrode in exterior environments.

    Answer This Question

A:  I'm not sure specifically-but it was tested at 118 mph and higher. In January 2022 it held up to an F2 tornado and in September 2022 it held up to a CAT4 hurricane. My application was for an Internet dish above my roof line.

A:  You will need to check with your local code for what is the approved code in your area. Steel conduit is NOT approved for direct burial, and this application would typically would use PVC but check with your local inspector.

This conduit was used to make a fill pipe extension for a refrigerated trailer fuel tank that was poorly mounted. With a couple of bends and internal expansion on one end we can now fill the tank without using a siphon hose.

It's a galvanized pipe-- pretty basic. It is good quality and, other than being rediculously overpriced, I'm happy with it.
