Does it go through curve of kitchen sink? Can it bend bt itself while going inside?

Does it go through curve of kitchen sink? Can it bend bt itself while going inside?
Asked by: Patty
Hi Patty - The cable is a spring wire and flexible enough to maneuver through a kitchen drain. The cable does have an integrated corkscrew open-wound boring head that you will want to make sure it fits through the opening of the sink drain. Please contact our Customer Support Team at 877-272-7755 if you have any other questions.

Asked by: OptimusPrime
Hi OptimusPrime - This product is not recommended for use in a toilet. It is designed for most small and medium household drains. We recommend you purchase our toilet auger, part# BC40030, which has a safety guide tube to protect the porcelain in the toilet from being scratched and has a non-slip hand crank. Please contact our Customer Support Team at 877-272-7755 with any other questions or for assistance in choosing the right tool for your job.

1/4 in. x 15 ft. Drain Auger is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless It did not clear the clog and it was very awkward to use. The free end of the snake kept getting tangled and flying all over the place. I snaked and resnaked the drain and it did not clear the clog. What a waste of my time & energy! I went back to home depot and got the Rigid Kwik Spin. The Kwik Spin cleared the clog within 10 minutes of snaking and it was so comfortable to use. Save yourself a lot of frustration & get the Kwik Spin the first time around.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Small Drain Reamer Already have a couple larger drain augers for main lines, somehow managed to lose a small one we use for sinks and laundry drains. This one is a perfect solution for manual cleanout especially in relatively fragile PVC pipes. The big units, especially powered ones, are way too much for those smaller household drains., while this one is just right, well made, and "Flexy" enough to work through tight turns. Would have gotten excellent all around, except they think the folding blister pack this comes in is somehow a "storage tote" Sorry, but it's a blisterpack, guys. Might survive 3 or 4 uses, but the 15' spring cable will be wrapped and tied with plastic twistees before too long. The tool is great, just enough flexibility, just enough torque, and all made in the US, too. Wish I knew somebody that needs one, I'd go get another right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from tricky but did the trick this auger is a little difficult to get through super curvy pipes (like the ones in my early 1900s house), but I eventually got it down to the clog. I definitely needed an extra pair of hands to turn the handle while I kept downward pressure on the auger. only took me about 10 minutes (including opening the terrible case) to take out the biggest clog I've ever seen (I'll spare you the picture)

I had a kitchen clog with three bends in the pipe underneath. Just insert the end until it stops. Move the handle about 6 inches from where it pokes out from the pipe. Lock it in place. Turn the handle and it will move forward. Move the handle back and push snake forward as needed. Repeat procedure if needed. Be patient, it works! Cleaned out my clog in twenty minutes! Twisting the handle does take some finesse using one hand while the other pushes the snake in the pipe but you can do it. If not, a helper will make it easier. Great and cheap investment. By the way, the plastic case is not reusable no matter how carefully you open it. Just use twist tie to keep it together and throw it in the shed or garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Tool to Keep on Hand! The 1/4 inch drain auger is a very useful tool to have around for when the situation arises. The 1/4 inch spring wire is small enough to be very flexible for use in small drain pipes found within the house and appears to be sturdy enough as to not break during use. And the 15 foot length should be more than enough to handle any clogged drain line leading from sink and bath fixtures within the house. After use, the spring wire can easily be refed right back into the retail packaging it came in for convenient storage. Compare the price of this drain auger to a 42 ounce bottle of liquid drain clog remover which costs about $5.00. Excellent value, considering initial use and reusability. Now for my personal account... This was my first time using an auger device (i.e. plumbing snake). Cleared out a huge clog in the shower stall drain after failing with Drano Gel Max. Took me about 5 to 10 minutes to feed in about 4 to 5 feet of the spring wire as I kept pulling the line out after a couple of feet to see if I could pull "something" out. After inserting about 4 to 5 feet of wire, I could no longer advance the spring wire despite repeated efforts. When I went to pull out the spring wire, it felt like it was completely stuck to the point where I was actually starting to get worried. But after I exerted a sustained tug on the wire, the wire slowly came out with heavy resistance (kind of like pulling a large fish out of the water). To my surprise, out came a huge wad of wet hair that looked like a wet sewer rat. Success!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well if you work at it I bought this after my bathtub stopped draining. I had never used an auger before, and I admit that at first, I think I was not using it properly: it stopped feeding down after just a foot or so, and when I pulled it back, nothing was on the end. I think it was just caught on the bend in the pipe, though, because on my second try, I tightened the bolt on the handle of the auger and twisted every time I hit resistance, then untightened it and kept pushing -- and it fed down another six feet or so. After about 5-10 minutes of working it down like this, I finally pulled it back, and a HUGE foot and a half-long clump of hair and black crud/goo came out, after which my tub finally drained. Cleaning the auger afterward was a little tricky and required the use of a utility knife (again, the hair-beast on the end was a gooey nightmare-mess), and the packaging on the auger was a little hard to open (it says not to damage the packaging so you can re-use it to store the auger, but I just cut it open then tied the auger up with pull ties). But hey, it ultimately did the trick, and now I have another useful tool on hand. For the price, I think this was well worth it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked, easy to use and affordable It worked on my clogged tub. Easy to use. I found packaging difficult to open (the package-if able to be opened without cutting can be a storage case. ) I left mine wet in tub overnight, and it rusted a little, but it shouldn't affect the future performance, just don't do what I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing really works! After tried all other method including using Zip It and Liquid Plumber, my shower is still clogged. I bought this thing from Home Depot as my last effort before calling professional plumber. After all, this product is very affordable compared to plumber service. The picture instruction is not so clear, but I kind of figured it out. You basically insert the steel cable through the handle. Then you push the cable down the drain, once it stops, you tighten the screw on the handle and start turning the handle clockwise. While you turn, the cable will slowly go down the drain. It is slowly so be patient. It took me about 5 minutes to push down 3 feet and then I can tell the cable has passed the clogged area and the cable now can go freely up and down. At this point, do not retract the cable immediately. Try to pash the cable up and down a few times so that it will catch as much debri/clogged hair as possible. My drain was totally clean up after that, I am very happy and proud of myself.
