Hi Tanisha, The hardboard should work. Note that hardboard can be hard to penetrate with normal nails or screws. We suggest that you mark off the place where you would like to put in a nail or screw, then use a power drill with a sharp drill head to puncture a hole in the wood.
Hello Kingfam05, We suggest 1/2 in. plywood - not OSB or tempered hardboard, for the bottom of a drawer.
Hello Somedude, We do not recommend tempered hardboard for your particular project as it is susceptible to water which can cause expansion and damage. We like 3/4 in. plywood for our cabinets, but if you are looking for more cost-effective materials, there is also MDF and PVC.
Well, it looks, Connie, that what you requested is not a stocked option, so our advice is to have you contact your Home Depot location to get availability and pricing on a special order of this product from the manufacturer. The closest that we could come to the 4 ft. x 5 ft. dimensions is in a darker color, but what you could do is have it cut down at the store. It's Hardboard Tempered Panel (Common: 1/8 in. 4 ft. x 8 ft.; Actual: 0.115 in. x 47.7 in. x 95.7 in.), Model# 832777. Hoping this works for you.
Hi Gabriel, According to our product specialist, this hardboard contains a small amount of low-formaldehyde-emitting glue that is considered safe. There are no other VOCs.
Barb, After talking with our product expect, this is what was determined: an electric staple gun or a pneumatic stapler will work. A less powerful, manual, spring-loaded kind won't work as well and has the potential to crack the hardboard.
Fran, It seems that almost any surface - including glass, can be used for decoupage, but the product page for this product states that "this product is not waterproof; for long-life, avoid getting panels wet." As this product is suitable for painting, though, it would make sense that decoupaging would not hurt the board as you are applying the adhesive then allowing it to dry - not submerging it. We would suggest that you do a test on the board before you purchase too many.
Ace, While you should find that your standard, pet-sized guinea pig can be supported by the product, the Home Depot site notes that product is not waterproof; thus, for long product life, avoid getting panels wet. How much weight a product can support varies by the length, width and thickness of the product, along with the ways in which it is being supported itself. So while it seems more than reasonable that a sheet of tempered hardboard should be able to support an average-size guinea pig, both variables must be taken into account. Hoping your pigs love their new ramp.
Laurie, The 1/8” thick x 2 foot wide by 4 foot long is about 21 lbs.
We've used this board for a wide variety of crafts for several years now. Without a doubt, the best tool for cutting curves and odd shapes of tempered hardboard is a jigsaw equipped with a "Wood-Scroll" jigsaw blade which allows for cutting with much tighter turns and angles than you could with a standard wood blade. The little 4" tall ornament in the photo is this hardboard that's been decoupaged and cut out with a jigsaw.
