Questions & Answers

can I cat this with jigsaw by any chance?

can I cat this with jigsaw by any chance?
Asked by: hg
It wouldn’t be my first choice, but yes put a bimetal blade in your jigsaw and cut really slow, make sure the conduit doesn’t pinch your blade because it could end bad. Your much better off with a conduit cutter, or a hacksaw. I have also used a sawsall with a good Lennox bimetal blade. There are many different ways .

Is this strong enough for a canvas tent frame?

Is this strong enough for a canvas tent frame?
Asked by: Truester
That depends on how heavy the tent is, the length of the unsupported pole, wind and snow load. Probably yes it is.

I'd like to use this to hang a curtain. Can the ends be threaded to fit a flange?

Asked by: ConiS
Conduit is too thin to thread for any standard flanges, they are usually heavy pipe thread. You could possibly find a flange just a little too large for the size conduit you are using and just allow the conduit to rest in them. Or use a plastic flange and drill the threads out of it 1. Mount the first flange. 2. Cut the pipe to the precise length, and rest it inside the flange. 3. Then screw the other end flange to the wall with the conduit in it. If you are using non-removable curtain rings, don't forget to put them on the conduit first, lol.

1 in. x 10 ft. Electric Metallic Tube (EMT) Conduit is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made a perfect $10 curtain rod. The Curtain... Made a perfect $10 curtain rod. The Curtain store wanted $300 each for a 1" 10' rod and we needed 3. We bought this instead, and were going to to paint it, but it looked good with it's "industrial" finish against our wood wall so we just cleaned it and put it up. Used pieces of 1" wooden dowels in the ends to attach the finials. Came out great and saved a ton of $$$$

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I only needed 16" of the galvanized conduit. Used it... I only needed 16" of the galvanized conduit. Used it to slide inside a 6.5' beach umbrella pole. The conduit was used as a reducer to slide into my boat seat pedistal after removing it's nylon 3/4" seat receiver. Now I can troll in the shade. I was looking for a 5' length, but had to buy 10'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as Expected When using the conduit for electrical work, it works exactly as expected. Not much else you can elaborate on. However, there are many other applications that it can be used for, it's just a matter of what you are trying to do. I cut (10) sticks down to 40" each (3 per stick) and placed them around the inside edge (spaced every 36") of a raised planter in our backyard. I left 16" above ground, the remaining 24" was set in concrete below grade. I then drilled 1/4" holes, 1" down, 6" down, and 11" down from the top. Lastly I strung 1/8" wire rope through the openings, and secured at the ends with turnbuckles. The end result was a very modern looking fence / barrier, which purpose is to keep our dogs out of the planter. To purchase this type of fence would have been 20 times more expensive, at least. Cheers!

It could have been more colorful, maybe a few etchings in the side. I would really find it hard to recommend a piece of pipe with no character!
