Does this board come in a size wider than 12 in. I need a board up to 18 in wide. 18 in x 60 in would be ideal. Any board or laminate shelving in this width would be suitable.
Asked by: Jean
You’ll need to go with a plywood for that size. The largest size “premium” kiln-dried board they sell is 18” x 48”. It’s laminated spruce

This usually comes from a Ponderosa pine tree. It is very soft, so when you are working with it, any small bump with a hard tool (or edge/corner of another board, etc...) will put a dent/scratch in the surface. Sanding is necessary as there are stamped barcodes, wording, or colors put on the boards for identification either at the mill, shipping, or for when they are delivered. It's a pain to have to sand all of these markings off the boards when they are usually fairly ready to be used otherwise. I definitely recommend these boards for building shelving or similar projects, but because it's so soft, furniture to hold adults is probably not the safest idea. And also because of the softness, a finish of some kind like polyurethane is highly recommended! I have made several bookshelves with this wood as well as used them unfinished on my basement ceiling, and look amazing!

Still quite warped and why is Home Depot importing boards from Sweeden? Plenty of high-quality wood available right here in the USA. Sweedish wood can't possibly be cheaper so what's the point? Even if it is I'll pay a couple cents extra to keep our logging industry alive and well which it is not.

I had to search and dig through a pile to find decent enough ones that were straight with no damaged areas or chunks missing. I'm rating a three because of how easily these boards can warp, but i still recommend for certain projects because the wood is easy to work with and looks great as a finished project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to work with Wanted to build a bug cage for the kiddos when we are playing in the yard and find some. With that said it worked great easy to sand all the corners I did it by hand to round them out. I’ve built other things with this wood before so I knew it would work great for this little project. I wouldn’t build anything that will need to hold a lot of weight

I went through at least 30 poor quality boards before buying one. After all that it’s too knotty and warped and wasn’t usable. It’s been that way at the Kenai store for a while. It’s like they got a bad shipment of wood, and instead of sending it back or writing it off, they are selling it normall

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good wood to use for making some simple shelves,... Very good wood to use for making some simple shelves, it was easy to sand and stain. The only downside is if you're looking for a board without large knot holes, it can be a little difficult to find the right one based on the stock I was looking at.
