Q:can these be used for bed slats?
by|Mar 1, 2022

Answer This Question

A:  They are not thick or wide enough even if you put many together & I think they would break or crack/bend in the middle. I would do a 1 x 4 as a slat at least.

by|Mar 3, 2022

A:  I would not use these as bed slats.  My recommendation is that you use either 1x4 or 1x6”, depending on the width of the bed frame. Hope this helps!!

    by|Mar 3, 2022

A:  no they are not strong enough , minimum 4" wide should be used for bed slats

      by|Mar 2, 2022

        A:  Yes

        by|Mar 2, 2022

A:  Probably, but it’s hard to find perfectly straight ones, so that’d be the biggest issue.

            Answer This Question

A:  You could, but . . It's a very soft wood, will show wear & dents rather quickly and will only hold up to the elements if a good coat of paint is kept fresh on it. Even traditional hardwood tongue & groove will require some protection. Bottom Line - I would not recommend it.

Used this for shelf facing in a storage room. Easy to work with and holds up great! All other parts of the shelving are home depot products as well.

I purchased these to help build a shoe rack. The boards were not perfectly straight but for my application, that didn’t matter as they were being cut into small pieces. These boards cut well and did not splinter or split on the table saw. I rounded the edges with a router and then sanded them smooth. I eve pre-drilled holes and countersunk screws in them. They did what I expected them to do and the shoe rack came out looking good.

Wood is warped and also the best looking side of each piece was chosen to be stamped, while the rougher sides were left unstamped. Quality of each piece really varies

                Boards were warped
Half of the boards were warped. One of them was severely warped and only half of the board was useable to my project.

Most of the lumber was unusable as finish trim even after sanding, priming, puttying, etc. Much worse quality than expected. Cabinet grade plywood was much better.

I could only use 4 boards. I had to come back in to the store and get more. Yes my fault for not picking them out myself in the first place. When I went back into the store the strip boards were better quality and half the price.
