Hi, so I had stated in the past that price and availability vary by location. Of course customers get mad a down vote my answer, how ever the truth remains the same, not all products are sold in all places. With that being said these are currently available for sale in the state of mass, 49 at my local store and bulk purchase is also available. you would need to contact your local stores pros desk to find out if special order is a option for where you live.

This material can be used on the exterior of your home. Here is a direct quote from the product application recommendations. “This lumber can also be used in exterior finishing applications as long as it is properly primed and painted or stained. Interior or Exterior use”.

Could these be used for bookshelves, as long as they were supported at reasonably short distances...

yes they will work for book shelf's, they could be full length if they has supports to hold the weight and keep them from bowing.

I am very happy with this 1 x 8 x16 primed board. I did question how finger-joint board would work out, but I can say it has performed well. The board were straight and true and very well primed (better than what I could have done).

What was a real problem with this purchase was not...
What was a real problem with this purchase was not the actual product but the fact that a blunt saw was used to cut the planks into two foot pieces. All the edges were very jagged and had split off pieces of wood, requiring me to sand down every edge and prime the edges for applying a top coat. RThis was extremely time consuming.

Like most Home Depot lumber, they buy the cheapest, worst material on the market and think people don't know better. I only purchased because I was in a jamb and they were close. DON'T buy lumber at Home depot
