This 8 Qt. re-sealable bag of Better-Gro Phalaenopsis Mix was developed to provide the proper moisture control for encouraging Phalaenopsis plant and root growth. It is an organic, fertile mixture of Canadian chunk peat blended with western fir bark, hardwood charcoal and coarse sponge rock. Use this mix when re-potting your orchids to give them the drainage, air flow and root ventilation they need to thrive.

I didn't see any bugs and I've used the whole bag.
Far as I know... I haven't used the product since I originally purchased it... I've seen no bugs with the orchids that are in this potting mix.
No, it is not bug free.
I have grown these orchids for about 10 years. I don't presoak this mix. I do reset the orchid in dry mix but I then immerse the orchid in a slightly larger pot of fertilized water for a maximum of 15 minutes and then drain. This allows the mix to be saturated and you can see if you need to add more mix to firm the orchid. For me, soaking the mix makes for a messy chore although some packages & websites recommend that method. I find that repotting my orchids a minimum of every 2 years after they finish blooming keeps them healthier. Good luck!
Hello Luvorchids: Pre-soaking a mix before repotting is strictly a grower preference. You don't need to, however our growers like to wet the mix before repotting. We have lots of instructional videos on orchid growing & repotting at www.EasyOrchidGrowing.com. Happy blooming!
Yes, I always soak the mix overnight before potting.
I prepare the mixture water + better-gro then soak my orchids in it
Yes, I always soak the mix overnight prior to potting.
I don't know, I got mine in the Pensacola store on 5309 N Davis Hwy Pensacola, FL 32503
Hello Jom. Unfortunately, neither the Home Depot in Jackson, MI nor the one in Jackson, TN stocks the 8 Qt. Phalaenopsis Mix. However, you are able to purchase it online at www.HomeDepot.com.
You may have to call the store for availability. Not every store has it. The stores in Alamogordo and Albuquerque NM don't have it.
