is it good to use as an underlayment for sheet vinyl?

Asked by: Mark
NO ! possible voids in the second layer that will sink if waled on with sharp heals or chair legs pressing in the wrong spot. Use underlayment grade material.

Can home depot cut 4x 8 panels into 8" x 8'

Asked by: Mary
They generally do not make more than one or two cut. But if you go at a slow time and are lucky enough to get an agreeable worker, it can be done. Do not expect full accuracy though. Each cut will subtract 1/8 or 3/16 inch for each cut. The 8" width will be about 7 7/8 inches when done.

I bought 17 sheets of this plywood to use as backboard to protect new insulation in my garage from the hazards of the workplace. Over all the plywood was in good condition, lightweight by the sheet, and east to work with if you have the proper tools (especially for cutting). Some negatives are that as with all plywood there were some sheets that had defects, all though these defects for me were minor enough that i saw no problem with using the sheets. I did have 2 sheets that were unevenly cut but i was still able to make due. I ordered these online for pickup in store, overall this service was very helpful and all of my product was waiting for me when i arrived. If i had to make a recommendation though; go in store and choose your pieces yourself if you're wanting to avoid the luck of the draw when it comes to in store employee selection! (They don't know what your project is so you cant expect them to care as much as you do!) *wish is was cheaper per sheet*

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Some jerk at Georgia Pacific put the UPC stickers on... Some jerk at Georgia Pacific put the UPC stickers on the face of the plywood. Not just one sticker, but three on each piece. If they're going to put these stickers on wood that it needs to be removed from, they should use vinyl stickers. Not these cheap paper stickers that tear apart and are very time consuming to remove. Therefore, instead of taking about 10 minutes to unload 20 sheets, it took me about and hour and a half! Otherwise, my painter would have had to remove them, and it would have taken him a great deal of time. I guess this is what happened when companies start hiring unskilled people to do menial tasks. Supervision is the answer, especially for green employees!

Even though we picked the flattest sheets we could find , one sheet warped but for what we bought them for, it was fine. Because of the species of wood used in HD plywoods they Have a tendency to bend and warp. There was some de-lamination, but again as an intermediate sub floor it was fine. If we were building something more formal and needed appearance we would have picked another type/grade of plywood.
